Carl the truth Williams/ Tony TNT Tucker.

Post by stethem »

Recently I read a good article on Carl Williams, he lives in NJ and is retired working security.........The 80's heavyweight has had some ups and down. A good fighter who challenged for but did not capture a title.......... the first real article about him appeared in 1985 and he was like 14 wins with 0 losses and he is posing. He had a bright future. His career parallels Tony tucker, both were 6'5'' both challenged for a title with tucker winning a ibf title and both boxed in to the latter years losing and winning some fight. Really both boxed a little longer than they should have........... both retired and to the best of my knowledge neither ended up financially well off.......... Tucker lives in florida and helps run a night club. I tend to think Tucker was the better of the two , he gave tyson a good rumble and knocked out Douglass for a title and he had an very good amateur career. ....... Williams, had a shorter amateur career and was moved too fast. he gave Holmes a good rumble but was stopped early by tyson and also lost by ko to weaver. He did have a good vicory over Bert Cooper........ did these tw fighters ever spar togehter or was there ever going to be a fight between the two........... I think it would have a good rumble...... Boxing fans should wish these two 1980 heavyweights fighters the best in their retirements......during their career they also gave their best.......... Boxing is not an easy sport......................

You ever think about checking out the "Boxers of the Past" forum? I'm pretty sure both of these guys are retired.

Williams got KO'd very quickly by Tyson. However looking at video of that fight he deserved to be able to fight on. Quick stoppage.

Robsteth, thine icon of the ancient days of boxrec circa 2000-02 has returned... This must mean Armageddon is upon us.
