Are you sure Mick? I thought he was given a suspended sentence but was banned for 4 years by UKAD for his drugs related conviction (intent to supply cannabis).
he did serve a prison sentence, did an interview with Boxing Now about it (formerly BBTV)
Thanks Sean 👍

ESPN+ TO STREAM BRITISH SHOW ON SATURDAY

After their first matchup ended in a draw, British middleweight champion Nathan Heaney and challenger Brad Pauls will meet again this Saturday, July 20th in the twelve-round main event from Resorts World Arena in Birmingham, England. Heaney and Pauls fought four months ago at the same venue in a highly pitched battle and look to break the deadlock. Promoted by Queensberry Promotions, Heaney-Pauls II and additional undercard action will stream live and exclusively in the U.S. on ESPN+ starting at 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT. Heaney (18-0-1, 6 KOs), age 35 and a six-year pro, notched his best win last November by capturing the British middleweight crown via majority decision over Denzel Bentley. Pauls (18-1-1, 10 KOs) entered the paid ranks in 2015 and went 16-0 before his first pro setback, a ten-round decision defeat to Tyler Denny in February 2023. He returned with a points verdict over Patryk Polasik last April and an eighth-round stoppage over Mitchell Frearson in September.

In other streaming action from Birmingham:

Ashley Lane (18-10-2, 3 KOs) vs. Andrew Cain (11-1, 10 KOs), twelve rounds, for Lane’s British and Commonwealth bantamweight titles;

Chantelle Cameron (18-1, 8 KOs) vs. Elhem Mekhaled (17-2, 3 KOs), 10 rounds, forr the vacant WBC interim junior welterweight title;

Zach Parker (24-1, 17 KOs) vs. Jack Arnfield (26-3, 6 KOs), 10 rounds, light heavyweights;

Solomon Dacres (8-0, 2 KOs) vs. Michael Webster 2 (10-1, 6 KOs), 10 rounds, for Dacres’ English heavyweight title;

Ezra Taylor (8-0, 6 KOs) vs. Carlos Alberto Lamela (8-3, 5 KOs), 10 rounds, light heavyweights;

Owen Cooper (10-0, 4 KOs) vs. Ekow Essuman (19-1, 7 KOs), 10 rounds for Cooper’s English welterweight titles.

Only one bout of interest for me...the rematch between Heaney v Pauls.

I really admire Heaney's enthusiasm for the sport. While he's involved in boxing, Nathan appears to put his heart & soul into each fight.

I thought Heaney was a bit unlucky not to get the verdict in their first fight, but Pauls pushed him all the way.

Definitely a worthwhile rematch :box:

Pauls is bang up for this , I know one of his sponsors and he's very confident.

Was a good fight last time around, let's hope this is the same

The main event is really solid, and Arnfield/Parker should be all action, as will Essurman against Cooper.

i recall arnfield being pretty boring? long lanky guy who is negative and wins by shutting things down rather than heating them up. the langford fight was dreadful and he's been irrelevant the last 6 years

big fall in quality from what it originally was but tbf still pretty solid: heany-pauls ,cooper-essuman are good. lane-cain and dacres-webster look like they could be competitive. ezra taylor in a step up as well.

id have preferred they cut down by axing the woman's fight to avoid drawing things out too much, looks like a long one.

Haven't seen the Langford fight. I thought the Blackwell fight was good, and I was going to mention Brian Rose, but that was 7 years ago :lol:
Time flys. :oops: I didn't realise it had been that long...

Good card, every fight decent. Shame about Liam Davis withdrawal but that's the beauty of stacking a card, one miss doesn't sink the whole thing.

This card, and the one next week (excluding the main event) has some cracking fights on. Stuff we would have been dreaming of not long ago.

was a stale perfomance before the 4th but good finish. so probably needs a few more fights at light heavy then jump into a big domestic fight.

yeah, I don't think he should try SMW again he's lean there and he's technically cruiser in this fight so 175 is his weight
