IBO fighter of the year and season rundown!

Post by armageto »

Steve Shuffleshits awards the IBO fighter of the year to................

Sam Langford! Congrats on representing the IBO well and just edging out Bob Foster. It was close, but Langford edges it being a two time IBO champ.

Originally Sam fought in the inaugural IBO title fight in week 8, getting stopped to Archie Moore in the 5th. Not to be deterred, Sam first won the vacant IBO title back in week 11, with a brutal KO in one over Billy Conn. He then went on to defend it 6 times, losing the IBO strap to Young Stribling in week 17.

Sam was back at it again, winning the IBO strap from Maxie Rosenbloom in week 21. This title reign would be short lived, as Langford turned around and lost the strap to Ezzard Charles the following week. The IBO strap really turned Langford's season around, and we are glad to recognize him as the IBO fighter of the year!

Runner up was Bob Foster. After a seriously bad start to the season, Foster had one of the best sim turnarounds in the history of BoxRecSim. Foster grabbed IBO gold in a vacant title bout in impressive fashion, stopping Michael Moorer in week 23. Like Langford, Foster would go on to successfully defend the IBO title 5 times. He was upset by Qawi late in week 29, in a fight he was well ahead in. As with Langford, the IBO strap really helped turn around his season.

Biggest IBO loser is Jimmy Bivens, who went 0-3 in IBO title fights, although losing to some of the best fighters this season in those matches. Yet, he's still a f'n loser. Talk about bad management.....

Until the next season, Shuffleshits sends his regards! :TU:

Sam Langford asked me to pass on his greatest thanks. He is currently resting his bruised ego after a terrible Super Six run but this award has picked him up a bit.

It's wonderful to hear Sam Langford's spirits have been lifted by the award. Even after a tough Super Six run, it's great to see him appreciated and motivated. Best wishes to him!best outlets in new York
