khelif did it and won the gold, and is rubbing it in on the critics. man/woman/whatever, they got some swag for sure. tbh all the early outrage has made them into a huge star and they look to be enjoying it
also, all 3 opponents after the italian went the distance. italian such a heartless quitter

uzbeks win two more gold, and can add two more still for a total of 5
beasts
their 92kg guy who won gold almost ko'd jalolov a couple years ago, many refs woulda stopped that in the ams, but amazingly jello came back to stop him instead

ya, i find her 40 second quit to be a heartless, distasteful PR stunt (agree whole heartedly with sky nicholson on that one), and also think she was a poor sportswoman in her immediately subsequent actionsmike john wrote: ↑10 Aug 2024, 01:32i dont know what your problem is, but ive read at least a half dozen posts from you, directly attacking agelina carini. any particular reason?margaret thatcher wrote: ↑09 Aug 2024, 19:23 khelif did it and won the gold, and is rubbing it in on the critics. man/woman/whatever, they got some swag for sure. tbh all the early outrage has made them into a huge star and they look to be enjoying it

carini herself says she regrets it and that she acted in a way disrespectful toward her opponent and boxing. she apologized, so at least that's a start, but still doesnt change my view towards what happened

I find it very distasteful to use "they/them" as pronouns for Miss Khelif. It's borderline racistmargaret thatcher wrote: ↑09 Aug 2024, 19:23 khelif did it and won the gold, and is rubbing it in on the critics. man/woman/whatever, they got some swag for sure. tbh all the early outrage has made them into a huge star and they look to be enjoying it

She is not of transgender persuasion and NO he doesn't have balls and a sausage. Nor is she non linear or binary or collegiate LBTQ+G<2÷TR
I'm offended by this. Please reconsider your choice of pronoun before inflicting violence upon others, cos that's what it is, violence
Man or woman, who gives a God good damn, we are humans, we all bleed, we all pass wind, we all laugh and we all weep like fairies. Can't we all just get along?. Why take sides? Red/Blue, Black/white, Kitchen/bathroom
I'll end it here. Heed the noise

Re: Olympic boxing 2024
Science is bloody interesting isn't it? I hope one thing we've all learned from this situation is that it's no where near as simple as XX=women, XY=men. We have a bunch of other (albeit rarer) chromosome sets, including XO, XXY, XXYY, XYY, XY (female) and XX (Male). This SHOULD have opened up the need for letting science talk about rare medical cases, and opening the door to an actual grown up conversation about gender, genetics, biology, and how using High School science in the real world is the biggest load of shit you can have (another obvious example is the 3 states of matter which thankfully we have seen some changes on with regards to Plasma).
I've no idea what the solution is, but the IBA method isn't it. There would be outage if a guy suffering with XX Male Syndrome fought in their Women's World Championships, with a dick between their legs, but that's allowed under their current definitions of women. (Oddly they didn't come under much fire for allowing 2 athletes they claim failed a test in 2022 compete at 2023 which seems rather odd if they want to play the fairness and danger cards).
Most people are never tested for things like Male XX or XYY, as they make little difference to every day life (except for things like fertility particularly in XX male), so most probably aren't aware (resulting in a number of recorded cases that is much lower than the actual cases) and then finding out, for example, you're not "normal" must be a complete head fornicate requiring psychologists (as suggested by a scientist interviewed on the BBC).
Likewise we need to accept that if you're at the Olympics there's a very good chance you are some kind of genetic anomaly, with some minor medical difference that give you some advantages, like lung capacity, or specific fast twitch muscles. There's like 10000 athletes there, from 8 billion people on the planet (1/80000), this isn't something everyone can do. So need to figure out what advantages are fair.
TL;DR
Science is REALLY complicated, gender actually isn't binary between XX and XY, you need to be special to be in the Olympics

Re: Olympic boxing 2024
Nail on the head. There's less outrage about all the athletes being "asthmatic" than there is as this natural advantage. People need to listen to experts when their knowledge is based on decades old school science and opinionated podcasters. Like I said in one of my previous posts, there's definitely a conversation to be had but everyone is having the wrong conversation.Boxing Prospect wrote: ↑10 Aug 2024, 05:18 Science is bloody interesting isn't it? Re: Olympic boxing 2024
Would the case have been heard before the Olympics starting, especially given CAS were already doing a case between IOC and IBA regarding whether the IOC needed to reverse their stance on IBA? Would imagine the on going case regarding testing, processes and governance (which ended in April this year), may have played a factor in appealing the decision to CAS. Would have imagined a case regarding governance of the organisation would have had to be complete before another regarding it's governance and testing would have been allowed to head to CAS. Especially if CAS could have said there was serious issues with governance, processes and testing, essentially invalidating the tests anyway?Cholo_cws wrote: ↑06 Aug 2024, 17:21I agree it is farcical and looks shady - the norm in boxing unfortunately. Khelif and Lin's 2023 disqualifications begs the question why didn't they take it to the Court of Arbitration for Sport? I would suggest, because they knew they would lose.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑05 Aug 2024, 19:21what a f@cking mess, embarrasingdookus wrote: ↑05 Aug 2024, 13:53
You may find this interesting. IBA are shambolic.
https://www.bbc.com/sport/olympics/arti ... 5dd2lz8y8o
so yes it was a testosterone test, oh wait no it actually wasnt, but we wont say we were wrong about that. and we didn't make khelif's sex an issue, oh wait ya we did mention that she's a man deceiving people about it, and we paid off her opponent's team 100k, true. and ya the exact same testing didnt find khelif to be a male in 2022, but hey things can change a lot in a year. oh and by the way the ioc are sodomites.
is the iba serious with all this or is this satire![]()
As for Lin, I'm not sure, but I don't believe Taiwan i one of the 125 countries who has signed up to the "New York Convention on the recognition and enforcement of arbitral awards", which CAS cites in the answer to the question of "What is the scope of an award pronounced by the CAS ?" So it's possible that.... she literally couldn't, with out her country signing up to the convention, which is likely a potential mine field in it's self.

Re: Olympic boxing 2024
Oh, some digging on Yu Ting Lin (articles originally in Chinese, translated)
[Those were essentially from the Sports Ministry of Taiwan]
IBA stated Taiwanese Boxing Association asked them not to disclose the result of the tests, they have however disputed it (Article excerpt)
https://www.edu.tw/News_Content.aspx?n= ... D508B75D4E"The Sports Administration of the Ministry of Education held a special meeting this afternoon (11th) to discuss the test report of boxer Lin Yuting. The test results are in line with international competition regulations. The Sports Administration and the National Training Center will fully support Lin Yuting in preparing for subsequent important competitions.
The Sports Department invited player Lin Yuting, coach Zeng Ziqiang, experts and scholars in the fields of sports medicine and law to jointly discuss follow-up measures. The meeting was chaired by Director Zheng Shizhong. After listening to the opinions of players, coaches, medical experts and other professionals, the meeting was also At present, there is no suspension ruling for player Lin Yuting, and there is no doubt about the results of the 10 sports doping tests Lin Yuting has undergone in the past three years; and the concentration of hormones (testosterone) that the outside world is concerned about will not be confirmed when she returns to China this time. The test reports also comply with international competition regulations.
In response to the International Boxing Federation's decision to cancel Lin Yuting's bronze medal in the 2023 World Championships, the rationality of this judgment is still subject to discussion. A letter will be sent to the International Boxing Federation to understand the overall testing regulations, and after collecting relevant information, it will evaluate subsequent measures to protect the rights of players. .
The Sports Administration emphasized that Lin Yuting's test results are in compliance with international competition regulations, and will make every effort to protect the players' rights and interests. It hopes that all sectors of society will give Lin Yuting more support and encouragement.
https://www.edu.tw/News_Content.aspx?n= ... 30835B71A7Taiwanese boxing queen Lin Yu-ting will compete in the Paris Olympics on the evening of August 2. Before the game, the media reported that British writers and athletes made discriminatory remarks about Lin Yu-ting. Director of the Sports Administration of the Ministry of Education, Zheng Shizhong, said that Lin Yu-ting was in accordance with the International Olympic regulations and used the Hangzhou Asian Games. The gold medal result qualified her to participate in the Paris Olympics and represented Taiwan in the Paris Olympics. She has long been subject to the same control of sports doping and other related testing as other athletes, and there has been no dispute over her qualifications.
Director Zheng Shizhong said that such discriminatory remarks were likely to deliberately affect Lin Yuting's mood during the game through the media. It is understandable that the other boxers spoke for their own rights, but because they did not know the details of the incident, they had these selfish thoughts. However, the International Olympic Games immediately issued a statement stating that "all boxers participating in the Paris Olympics are eligible."
The Asian Olympic Games Medical Committee has conducted a complete test on Lin Yuting during the Hangzhou Asian Games, and there is no problem with Lin Yuting's qualifications.
Director Zheng Shizhong also reminded the coach to cheer up Lin Yuting, not to be affected by other people's strategic speeches, but to strive for the highest honor for herself! I also hope that the Chinese people will cheer for the players competing on the front line.
[Those were essentially from the Sports Ministry of Taiwan]
IBA stated Taiwanese Boxing Association asked them not to disclose the result of the tests, they have however disputed it (Article excerpt)
Also"Taiwanese boxing queen" Lin Yuting and Algerian female boxing star Imane Khelif were caught in a storm of gender controversy at the Paris Olympics. However, the International Boxing Association (IBA) held a press conference yesterday (5) However, they could only make a fuss without producing any evidence or test reports. They even claimed to have done so after receiving a request from the Taiwan Boxing Association. In response to this, Boxing Association Secretary-General Peng Junming responded today (6th) that there was absolutely no such thing and asked the IBA to disclose who said it.
https://www.ftvnews.com.tw/news/detail/ ... m=InArticlThe Chinese Olympic Games has appointed a lawyer to issue a warning letter to the IBA, and reserves the right to pursue legal action and file a lawsuit if necessary. We will communicate closely with the IOC in the future to jointly safeguard the rights and interests of the players.

Once again my only real wish is that the amatures with styles that can convert to pro turn pro and turn pro full time…
If Turki is looking for novelty cards to put on let’s get a card with 10 gold medalists and put ‘em in with british/euro levle pros… in 10 rounders.

Unless his matchmaking changes overnight, I think he needs to build his confidence in the pros otherwise he's going to avoid competitive fights for too long. He hasn't even tried to face anyone of note yet but Takam is beatable but a respectable name that is still one of the stand out names on a few top 20 guys records. I personally would put him against Wallin or Pulev.golden_labrador wrote: ↑10 Aug 2024, 18:10Takam fresh from being Bakoled. Tenderised. I'd agree a few years ago but Takam should be retiring now.
