Lightweights: Aaron Pryor vs Ken Buchanan

Post by elmersalsa »

This is a great fight between a non stop punching machine vs a masterful and clever boxer. Who wins?

I pick Buchanan by decision in an extraordinary contest. He was too fast and had razor jab and great chin.

I tend to think if the talent is relatively equal that the swarmer usually beats the pure-boxer.

Pryor close but clear decision.

Aaron had some great TV fights with Alexis Arguello and that certainly proves it. Is this not a fact? You can not argue with these facts. And in this case I may actually agree with the Pryor crowd. Loi and Loche would be another story. So would Cervantes in his prime.

So...you must conclude that perhaps I'm not an overly enthusiastic Buchannan supporter. I dont' see it as a "cream of the crop" fight. But it would be entertaining and close. Pryor might just win an on the level fight with Ken.

Cervantes even in his prime was too slow and hittable to beat Pryor imo.
