Even though he's the only boxer in his immediate family, they run several non boxing related businesses and his dad repeatedly says he makes no money in boxing and is only in it because of his son?
They lose money as they have to pay for the opponent

Well, fair enough, that’s the feeling he gives me but am probably wrong. There could still be parental pressure regardless of what his father says and the current fact of economics.

They would. I don't think they're doing it for anyone else and don't need the money.

I don’t agree necessarily. Any heavyweight is interesting. And this guy is part of a premier fighting family. Incredibly he’s only 30 I think.
There’s definitely a place in the picture for Hughie. He also seems like he’s not a bad character. He has something to offer. I’d like to see him get involved in some big fights 👍🏼

If he is definetly going to make a run at it , nows the time to do it , BUT he needs to do it with someone else , He needs to get away from his father , go get a bit of mongrel in him , stop being a man child and become a man

There is literally no chance he ever leaves his dad. His dad's influence over him is as strong as it gets.

Agree 100% he will never leave him ,, but there is something missing and his dad has not identified what and then installed it in him , another coach like say Adam Booth , would probably watch , listen and say to him , you want to be world champ , get some mongrel in ya , feed him some raw meat , stir him up and send him out to kill , and if he diod'nt want too ,, then tell him well go home son your just treading water . , To me Hughie is a perfect example of talent and chin , plus lack of determination, he's just treading water , going through the motions with no real ambition , determination , and go for the kill at all cost attitude thats needed

not sure thered be any hughie fight id be interested in watching tbh

he cant stop good fighters, hes too slippery and takes a decent shot so very hard to stop himself, he's allergic to trading or having sustained action, his brand of 'boxing' involves all sorts of hugging and jerking that is hard on the eyes even trying to enjoy it as a purist. hes also a well known quantity so there's no sense of mystery or curiousness about what his ceiling might be, etc

its like he's guaranteed to be in a soul sucking decision fight that tells us nothing new and makes us lesser off for having watched. a capable european level type who could cause almost anyone some issues, but jeez his recipe aint for me

He isn't fan friendly to watch and I can't imagine people are lining up to fight him either so not an easy task to get him fights

Correct , which i think is a direct result of , just going in with a survive /win at all cost type attitude , but definetly not a win /kill at all cost , thats why he's boring has batshit and will not beat the guys prepared to put it on the line with a great win at all cost attitude

Hughie was probably euro levle 9 years ago… but has never beat a euro levle guy…

It’s the sad reality of losing fights earlyish… can really mess with things. But I guess hughie got a second and third chance….

He is a bit boring but really should be a player inbetween brittish to world levle. Instead he is waiting to his (old) man strength…

Also beat former world title challenger Wach, former British and Commonwealth champ Sexton and former cruiserweight challenger Arias. Hughie's beat a who's who of championship level opponents...

Absolutly CORRECT on ALL POINTS , which i think is a direct result of the training and instructions he recieves from his father , no doubt Hugh does everything his dad says to a T , Peter says shit jump , Hugh says how high ,, great respect for a son to his father , but realisticly i don't think Peter is the great coach /trainer most give him raps for , he knows his boxing in general , but at the top level like that , you don't need a trainer who just knows boxing in general you need the absolute gun of a trainer , you want to be the best ,you need to surround yourself with the best .
Hugh is stuck in the mould and i doubt he will ever get out of it , although with his age and experience now there is still time , but like Mickey said he would never leave Peter , personaly i think Hugie with someone like Usyks trainer could be world champ , never happen though will it

He's fighting Christian Thun (9-1, 7 KOs)

Thun took two years off after the first loss of his career, via majority decision over eight rounds with Curtis Harper, and he scored a third-round stoppage of journeyman southpaw Jason Bergman in Florida in January.

I think the ridicule needs to stop.
Guy still filling out.
You just wait.

To be honest there was a time when I thought Hughie had turned the corner just after the Parker tap match.

Been downhill though.

If any ambitions needs to fast track NOW.

No more apologists for a contender if doesn’t accelerate after this .
Happy to watch Hughie though. Got skills. Just underpowered for this division.

He tested postive for COVID 1 day later and broke his hand in the 1st vs Harper I work closely with one of his team so knew the details it’s a miracle he was even standing at the final bell vs Harper to be fair
