Amateur record of singer Jackie Wilson

Wilson claimed to have won the Golden Gloves at welterweight aged 18 (though said he was really 16), not sure if anyone knows his record?
I can't find any record of this information from any proper sources other than biographies of Jackie Wilson. The only Jackie Wilson I can see who won a Golden Gloves is California Jackie Wilson in 1936. The singer Jackie Wilson was boxing in the 40s. He says his last ever fight he was knocked out. I've seen his record claimed to be 2-8, not sure why he would say he had a good record if he was 2-8.
