Jesus. I think it’s getting to the point where we call Dazn a ppv service, most half decent fights or fights involving a star seem to end up on ppv now.
I no longer see any difference between dawn and the “bad days” of sky that dazn prided themselves not to be like

Like when they decided to have a channel on Sky recently..
Pay a monthly fee for the channel, then additional cost for the PPV's
Just the same as Sky Sports or TNT
DAZN do show a lot of boxing compared to few years back..
They show anything.

It’s beyond a joke now, at least with sky you do get the odd world class event as part of the subscription (not boxing I know). With Dazn most world class events are now part of their ppv service.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑13 Sep 2024, 10:12It's the same shit.stujones wrote: ↑13 Sep 2024, 09:30Jesus. I've completely bought into Berlanga's self hype and he's going to stop Canelo. You can all laugh at me on Sunday morning.

Anyone got the stats on how many PPVs DAZN have done since Hearn declared PPV was dead? Must be a good 20 by now?stujones wrote: ↑13 Sep 2024, 10:27It’s beyond a joke now, at least with sky you do get the odd world class event as part of the subscription (not boxing I know). 118-109 Alvarez, wasn't a great watch, too one sided, Berlanga was more interested in showboating and going the distance and tbf to him Canelo couldn't put him away, knocked him down with a sweet left hook in the 3rd but that was only time he really hurt him, Berlanga wasn't busy enough, wasn't mobile enough and never really fought with a real plan, his jab was his best asset but Canelo walked him down, pummeled him with left hooks to head and body, landed all the effective shots, it was a dominant win without really shining

Fair summary and I agree, Canelo was comfortable from start to finish but without really excelling (not that he had to). Berlanga was fairly lost against that level of opponent, despite not being the best version of Canelo we’ve seen in previous years. Berlanga did show toughness to see out the 12 but didn’t really have the ambition/ability to try & win it.handsofstone wrote: ↑15 Sep 2024, 05:09 118-109 Alvarez, wasn't a great watch, too one sided, Berlanga was more interested in showboating and going the distance and tbf to him Canelo couldn't put him away, knocked him down with a sweet left hook in the 3rd but that was only time he really hurt him, Berlanga wasn't busy enough, wasn't mobile enough and never really fought with a real plan, his jab was his best asset but Canelo walked him down, pummeled him with left hooks to head and body, landed all the effective shots, it was a dominant win without really shining

Predictably Lara/Garcia was diabolical, Garcia should've been slung out before the midway point, zero effort, he made Lara look like a workhorse when infact he was terrible too, just jabbed his way through the fight, the left cross he landed to put Garcia down in the 9th looked feeble but it was still enough to make Garcia quit on his stool and thank God he did, PBC should've been ashamed putting this fight on chief support ppv

Wasn't a great fight, but interesting enough
Berlanga was tough but he didn't really go balls to the wall, despite being huge in comparison
Shows us how good Bivol was who beat Canelo easy, albeit at light heavy.

Canelo looked good as usual, but also like hes slowing up in certain areas which i suppose is only natural
Berlanga didnt give him much stick, but he showed heart and dug in to last the 12
he done better than i expected him to

The first winning Canelo cards I've agreed with in years. Textbook shutout, really.
During the SMW fights I kept pondering a peak Calzaghe in the mix. I think so many of today's lot would've been made for him. Canelo's tough and defensively cute, but against that workrate...

Would Berlanga or Munguia beat Eubank Jr ? I imagine they’d be fairly close fights not much in it either way.
If that’s the level of guy Canelo is fighting now maybe he really could be tempted to fight Jr at Wembley next summer as rumour has it.
