Grigory Drozd

Russian press is reporting that Grigori Drozd, who retired in 2017, is suspended for a doping offence after he won the WBC Cruiserweight title in September 2014.

Apparently the positive test was covered up by the Russian authorities and only discovered when WADA gained access to the Moscow lab data a few years ago.

It's possible that his world title win and defence could be changed to no contests even this late on

ah that would make sense! He was a quality fighter and on his best form, he seemed to be getting better with age, then suddenly vanished as soon as he won a world title

Why would you be a pro for 14 years just to retire when you finally get an opportunity and win a world title, that's when the bigger paydays would come.
