I believe it's in Reading County Court and it is an Employment Tribunal case.

Tribunals usually reserve judgment, i.e. don't give their decision on the day of the hearing. Can take several months for them to give judgment, so this sounds just procedurally normal.

On a related note, Jeff lost on a preliminary issue in his High Court libel action - judgment was issued at the end of February and is at https://caselaw.nationalarchives.gov.uk ... b/2024/380 . Am surprised he didn't seek representation by a barrister on a pro bono basis but represented himself, although the judge praises his efforts at para 51 of the judgment. Although this is only a preliminary issue, hard to see how he wins the case from here, but I am no expert in this field.

Doesn't sound promising unfortunately. I imagine these things are nearly impossible to prove, especially when involving a small closed shop like the BBBC.

I believe that ends it. If the statement itself is not defamatory, he has no cause of action.

I got reffed by him a few times, he was ok, not great, didn't deserve to lose his job, wasn't class A standard

IJL was a much better ref, but then it was his judging which lost him his job

Personally I'd believe Hinds, he doesn't seem the type to make it up and I've seen more than enough from the board to suggest the ones at the top are simply running an old boys club. They make a good few quid with a nice cushy number and have done for years. Decades. I've seen some shocking judging and officiating from several and nothing happens. IJL on the other hand was a liability and should have been sacked years ago although when you look at some of the cards and officiating he was doing I think he knew the job and what was required and that's why he was kept on. He just went too far on that Taylor Catterall 1 fight and a fall guy was needed and that is the risk when you are in that line of work. I do have some sympathy. The likes of Marcus McDonnell and that Campbell Hatton robbery fight a while back comes to mind. McDonnell and Hattons immediate family would be the only ones who scored that for Hatton of course and as an official looking on, when you see the likes of this you are probably thinking to yourself, this is how my bread is buttered and what is expected of me. But occasionally the outpour after these corrupt decisions is just too much and unless you are in the club, you could on the chopping block. That's how I see it anyway. The two black officials get the boot. I know IJL was bad but was he any worse than the others? I'd put them all in the same category.
