Re: Round-by-Round: Anthony Joshua vs. Daniel Dubois | PPV - 21 September 2024
That was insane, I knew we'd see fireworks but sheesh, first bell Dubois was winning the battle of the jabs and rocked Joshua early, looked like AJ might be settling but then Dubois dropped him with a long looping right, lucky the bell went Joshua's legs were jelly, he took a pasting in the 2nd as well, he did take a lot of clean shots without going down, especially with no legs, the KD in the 3rd looked bogus but it was a result of Joshua not having his legs under him, Dubois couldn't miss, Joshua's defense was horrendous and he telegraphed his shots and Dubois easily avoided them, it wasn't until the end in the 5th when Joshua eventually landed the right and rocked Dubois, landed again then bang walked onto a short right and got poleaxed, incredible scenes, thougroughly deserved, AJ never been leathered like that

19 others had it AJ.. only Duke said Dubois
DUKE MCKENZIE (FORMER THREE-DIVISION TITLEHOLDER/TV ANALYST): DUBOIS TKO 10
“I liked this fight from the moment it was announced. My opinion is that AJ is a former champion looking for another bite of the cherry to become a three-time heavyweight world champion and join the elite boxers of the past who have managed this feat. There’s his incentive. Will it be enough to stop a young hungry fearless Dubois who isn’t given enough credit for his boxing IQ? I think AJ will bring out the best in Dubois, and we have seen the best of AJ who these days loses his shape badly once he unloads, whereas Dubois holds his shape a lot better. The much improved Dubois seems to be getting better, and I would expect to see marginal improvement going into this fight. I think with a lot more head and lateral movement from Dubois, his work rate will be too much for AJ, who will simply not be able to cope. Dubois wins inside 10 rounds TKO.”
I predicted Dubois win KO5 this morning
Worth pointing that out cos ruthless certainly won't

What a fight. No shame for AJ, but we have got a new heavyweight star in DDD (which has been growing a lot and always brought this excitement).

You know those dreams you have when you are at school or work, and look down and realise you're not wearing any pants?
Natasha Jonas is living that dream right now.

That should be it, over, no more AJ in big fights…. But since the Riyad Season take over I can see AJ being recycled and making a fortune…ala Wilder.
If anything this should make Fury vs Joshua a bit closer…assuming Usyk beats Fury. In a brook vs Khan in 2022 type of fight.
I really think we will see massive name fights for aj next… Wilder or Fury.
Let’s see Dubois against Zhang next for Daniel.

Yep Joshua has only ever been good when he's coming forward aggressively. Ruiz fight definitely ruined him.MasterG wrote: ↑21 Sep 2024, 17:30 Well after the Ruiz fight AJ was never the same boxer. He became chinny and gun shy. AJ has gradually aged and tonight was the defining fight of a boxer who went down hill faster than Clark Griswald on a sledge.
I predicted inside 5 with a punch from nowhere.
DD is nothing flash, he just beat a boxer on skidrow tonight. Give him credit though.

He's not my man, I'm a nobody I've never met him.
I've written it as he's an appalling champ to have, he's thick as pigshit, responds to his father like one of the Fritzl children and is an amoeba.

DDD is great to watch isn't he - just gets down to business, KO or be KO'd.

I thought DDD might be overawed by the occasion, but it looked more like it got to Joshua. Carrying his left hand low, attempting to grab when not close enough, throwing right uppercuts from outside, all his bad habits back on display.
Credit to Doobie, he just went right after him and exploited Joshua's mistakes.
I'm glad there's a new, young, big punching exciting champion. He's shown vast improvement and that's come from hard work and having a fighting mentality, something he was questioned about after his previous defeats.
