Is Daniel Dubois autistic?
Is Daniel Dubois autistic?
I work with SEN young people and he looks to be on the spectrum, particularly in social situations. does anyone know if he is on the spectrum? The reason I ask is a young person I am with loves boxing and Im trying to find boxers with needs he can follow. So far I have found sunny edwards and prince patel who have been transparent about their needs.

tbh i have wondered too if he's a high functioning case
Re: Is Daniel Dubois autistic?
Wouldn't suprise me, most fighters have a bit missing and the better fighters usually have a mind quite apart from the normal fella

Anyone see the clip of Joyce getting interviewed ofn Saturday??

Re: Is Daniel Dubois autistic?
Ffs. Tbh over half the population is on the spectrum to some degree.
Behave yourselves.

Re: Is Daniel Dubois autistic?
I wouldn’t have thought so. What autistic person would do a ring walk.
Re: Is Daniel Dubois autistic?
I highly doubt he's autistic but he definitely seems like he has some learning difficulties. Seems slow, distracted and not the brightest. Joyce on the other hand just doesn't seem witty or confident but he doesn't come off as stupid.
Re: Is Daniel Dubois autistic?
Yes, and I found that a bit upsetting, rather than funny.handsofstone wrote: ↑23 Sep 2024, 14:57 Anyone see the clip of Joyce getting interviewed ofn Saturday??![]()

Re: Is Daniel Dubois autistic?
being autistic doesnt mean someone cant do sports
autism is mainly about communication difficulties and challenges with social skills

Re: Is Daniel Dubois autistic?
I really don't like this modern trend of diagnosing autism or neurodivergence left, right and centre. Some people just aren't particularly good at social situations, doesn't automatically make them autistic.
Incidentally my sister-in-law decided I was autistic because I was selectively mute around her. My missus had to diplomatically tell her it was because I find her incredibly annoying so tune her out as much as possible

Re: Is Daniel Dubois autistic?
claiming to be neurodivergent is a trend these days for sure, but autism is a real thing. i used to work with intellectually disabled fold and autistic folk (autism is not an intellectual disability) and it's more than just being an introvert or a little quirky
dubs is like a robot trying to fit in when he's in social situations. he's 27 but almost like a child in his communication. i could see it, although he'd be no more than a mild case most likely

My nephew is severely autistic, it's extremely evident for people like him. But when someone is very highly functioning, doesn't even really seem worth pointing out tbh.

I've thought the same, I think he is. We are all on the spectrum to one extent or another, I just think he's higher than most.

Re: Is Daniel Dubois autistic?
its not really a huge deal, but i think it could be a cool thing for folk with autism. the ones i used to work with tended to be higher functioning, but still faced trouble in being able to pursue a lot of avenues in life. seeing someone else with autism so successful, in an area where to my knowledge there are few known high success cases of people with autism, could be some inspiration at least.Boxerbeetle wrote: ↑23 Sep 2024, 15:18 My nephew is severely autistic, it's extremely evident for people like him. i dont think we really know enough about dubs to say for sure, but he does show some qualities that make me wonder if it's a high functioning case and not merely being an introvert. that isnt meant to insult him or anything, he seems like a good enough dude and people with autism often have greater than normal strengths outside of communication.

The reigning World's Strongest Man Tom Stoltman is autistic, he does ring entrances in large arenas etc. Autistic people learn coping and managing strategies, as well as their own personal development to facilitate coping in different situations. Also autism is a wide spectrum.
In answer I've no idea though.

Re: Is Daniel Dubois autistic?
that's really not true. I'm not being argumentative but we trivialise autism with that loose term. My daughter's autistic and it's very nuanced but not something that everyone has a bit of.Controversial wrote: ↑23 Sep 2024, 15:23 I've thought the same, I think he is. Re: Is Daniel Dubois autistic?
Well, he’s not exactly Noel Coward in interviews, but then his job is to punch people in the head so I don’t suppose it matters.
Re: Is Daniel Dubois autistic?
I actually like that about him. You can tell he's not into the media stuff at all, doesn't try to hide it. Good on him. There's too much media in the sport these days anyway.

Does suffering from autism in this case mean Daniel’s just a bit shy
The same way that all the opportunist slebs “suffering” with mental health problems are just a bit down

It's probably more his upbringing. Cult like.
Re: Is Daniel Dubois autistic?
I just don't think DDD is great in front of the camera and his character is quite straightforward, reminds me of a Frank Bruno type, quite serious and to the point.
Mentally he's in a stronger place than AJ though, Joshua is a very fragile man.

Yes sorry worded badly, a lazy narrative. I saw a video of DDD the other day being interviewed and he just kept repeating the same phrase when asked a question, I wouldn't be surprised if he was, of course that doesn't matter at all.SeanBrennan wrote: ↑23 Sep 2024, 15:44that's really not true.
