I tend to think we may have created the way we are by all the chemicals we are knowingly and unknowingly putting in our body. The way food is processed and the crap that's spread onto fields and crops.
I couldn't disagree more with this MasterG!

It has always existed... it just didn't have a label.

We all knew the kid with a short attention span (ADHD) or the shy kid (Social Anxiety) and so on.....

I think the biggest issue is that these labels are now over diagnosed and clung to, everyone seems to need an excuse for who they are.
:TU: correct. and parents can now pay privately for a diagnosis which leads to more cases.
Yes … pay a few hundred quid and you’ll find a doctor who will diagnose you - getting you more leeway at school with exams etc.

Another case of things being easier for the wealthier.

Amen to the point about things being easier for the wealthier. But I don't think middle class people trying to swerve exam difficulty is the driver here. I spent a long time seeking the right support for my daughter, not seeking any diagnosis just wanting her to be ok in school and the like. It is a nightmare trying to get a diagnosis and requisite support.

There's nothing wrong with him, he's just not as mouthy as most big men who can fight tend to be and its actually refreshing to see.

Probably played into the 'big softy' personality as a kid so that other kids wouldn't run away from him, and stuck with it. He lets his fists do the talking in the ring and thats what matters.

I'm more concerned about AJ. His speech and mannerisms are bizzare at the best of times. Starting to think he's not very well mentally.

Basically let’s put these people in this pot and those people in that pot.

Is it the case that it’s easier to spot now, ir there’s much more awareness, especially with
Mental health and everything being diagnosed with depression and anxiety.

If someone’s socially awkward, let’s not just put them in a certain bracket. Let’s just say, oh, they’re socially awkward.

Who knows though.

Way more casuals are now talking about Dubois cus of this win. As well. Which is good.

Had AJ beaten him. 90% of people would have just said oh he’s shit anyway.

Its hardly a secret that getting a diagnosis has a financial incentive for parents who are claiming and you wouldnt need to be a complete rotter to link that to a rise in people aiming for them.

To be honest, i love DDDs style. AJ went full corporate with the endorsements and stay humble mumbo jumbo whereas i couldnt see DDD keeping a straight face if was asked to shill for sponsorship cash.

His dad, a single parent, is eccentric to say the least. Daniel apparently could do thousands of press ups at seven years old, and did so daily.
no wonder he is so unbelievably strong then. maybe its childhood trauma I'm seeing then. It actually rewires the brain to exhibit similar traits to autism. seriously, google the image of a trauma informed brain and it looks like a face frowning.
Between this post (re: childhood trauma effects on neurological development) and that article from the Sun on Daniel's upbringing tells the full story of why Daniel is the way he is in my humble opinion.

His upbringing sounds horrific and I think he is naturally a quiet person but his upbringing has accentuated this "muteness" which can appear akin to autism in some regards.

God bless him hope eventually he can break free of his father.

Personality wise. I compare Dubois to Mike Weaver.
Mike gave awkward interviews. Never liked the limelight and seemed out of place is large social gatherings.
Mike thought of boxing as a job. I think Dubois is very similar.
Dubois will never be a guy doing TV commercials or going on the tonight show. He will just be knocking guys out and getting paid.

If you watch boxing of any style youre probably watching someone getting brain damage so its just something you have to accept.

I knew a young boxer who got a blood clot during sparring. He was operated on and couldnt walk or speak before he died a year later. It put me off boxing for a while but i enjoy it again now. Im not as all-in about it as i used to be, and prefer to keep it at arms length.

Disaster can strike anyone if they are getting punched in the head. The lad i knew was training for his pro debut and never even made it that far

I reckon I'm pretty good, but I definitely suffered from short term memory loss, would be driving, forget where I'm going so would have to go home.
Used to write everything down to combat this.
Probably didn't help getting the odd smack on the head when working the door.
However these days I'm much better

I really applaud this post (but not badging DDD at all) think he seems a lovely lovely guy. Maybe he has issues like us all. But not being a WWE promo type doesn’t mean anything. TBH I find Fury’s promos and prezzas to be zzzzzz. Is he on the spectrum? Course he is.

I only saw it first time today, looked bad on first viewing but then read that Joyce might have been distracted by a nearby monitor showing the fight highlights and accidentally concentrated on those? It's definitely easily done, I have to do presentations in work sometimes and the smallest thing can distract me and totally throw me off if I haven't done lots of advance prep.

thank you mate. Working with and improving the lives of young people either SEN or trauma informed is my entire life at the mo. Extremely demanding but extremely rewarding.

I personally think the whole "we are all on the spectrum" narrative does a MASSIVE disservice to the neurodiverse people who really struggle. there are "quirks" and then there are the needs that make life just complete torment.

Steve. Please carry on with what you do mate. I made a mistake that “we all on the spectrum” I do think though many people do stick plasters on things and suffer needlessly.

i didnt mean to dig you out with that comment mate, its obv your intentions are pure. Certainly ADHD (altho very very real) is over diagnosed and sought after by a demographic who want to excuse certain unsavoury behaviours. You are also correct that we all have traits that align with it, but its just incomparable. thats all i really meant. when you see the struggle of pre teens who havent slept for 12 days and are slipping into psychosis, or sit a child who has been non verbal for 6 years it puts it into perspective. The whole "autism never used to exist when I was young" narrative is the one that REALLY grinds my gears. But its basically a lack of education and understanding. Even in schools, no one is getting it right (and may never cos each case is so individual).

But he is also not as sharp or concise a speaker as he was. Check this interview from just before turning pro. It's different from the ones he gives today.

The way he collapsed in the 2nd Zhang fight was frightening and I really worry he took life-changing damage from that (and of course the Chisora fight, which I couldn't bring myself to watch)
