Dennis McCann versus Peter McGrail ordered (again)

After receiving notice that he must defend his European junior featherweight title against Peter McGrail, British champion Dennis McCann has now also been ordered to defend his Lonsdale Belt against the 2020 Olympian.

The 23-year-old McCann (16-0-1, 8 KOs) won the title in March by outpointing Brad Strand and then put in a career-best performance to beat Ionut Baluta in their rematch in July.

McGrail (9-1, 5 KOs) rebounded from a shock knockout loss to Ja’Rico Quinn last December by easily beating former British bantamweight titleholder Marc Leach in April. McGrail will fight Brad Foster on Sept. 28 and, if successful, will turn his attention towards a major fight with McCann.

The Stewards decided to put out the above mandatory defence contest to Purse bids to be submitted in accordance with the Terms and Conditions to the Board’s Head Office by 12:00noon on Wednesday, 9th October 2024, the contest to take place by the end of February 2025.

McCann chews McGrail up, he's a seasoned pro who looked great last time out. McGrail has already been whacked by a no hoper so i cant see him wanting any part of the haribo kid

he was flattened, but he was looking very good until that moment. not like he was being clowned or beaten up or anything. if his chin holds together he could be a real threat to mccann. good fight if it happens

mccann for his part showed the ability to learn and adapt with the baluta rematch and was pretty good vs strand before that.

Cracking match up. But everything Mccann does, McGrail does better, fully expect a McGrail win.

Did you even see the fight he was 'whacked by a no hoper'?

Doesn't sound like it because McGrail was winning every second of every round, had dropped him a few times was on the verge of stopping, and looked brilliant, until a punch came out of absolutely nowhere. It was one of the most shocking endings I've ever seen. It was a fluke punch.

But will his chin hold up at top level?

Often knock outs like that have a lasting impact

Full Undercard For Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk Rematch Announced

Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury are set to run it back following their historic undisputed heavyweight championship fight earlier this year.

In May, the Ukrainian came out on top via split decision to take all four belts and hand Fury his first professional loss. The fight delivered on all counts, with back and forth action, blood, sweat and edge-of-your-seat moments. As per the contract, Fury had the option to force a rematch and didn’t wait around to do so.

They will meet again on December 21 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, this time for just three of the four major belts after Usyk vacated the IBF and it was awarded to Daniel Dubois.

There are some big British names propping up the main event, including widely-regarded future heavyweight ruler Moses Itauma in a big step up against southpaw Demsey McKean. Johnny Fisher faces fan-favourite Dave Allen in another battle of the big men.

Chief support is former super-welterweight champion Israil Madrimov attempting to bounce back from defeat to Terence Crawford against Usyk’s countryman Serhii Bohachuk. The card also features two more intriguing all-British affairs – Dennis McCann versus Peter McGrail and Isaac Lowe facing Lee McGregor.

Oleksandr Usyk vs Tyson Fury Undercard

Moses Itauma vs Demsey McKean

Great fight, I'm gonna pick McCann, might lose the early rounds but will make McGrail work every minute, McCann will get to him, the Scouser needs more rounds where he hasn't had it all his own way

I think he's already a high output boxer, very interesting fight either way. Really looking forward to it.

It's one of those exciting British fights that I'll just be happy to sit back and enjoy....but if pushed, I'd lean towards McCann, who is very much on an upward curve.
