Re: Gerald McClellan versus Roberto Duran
I would pick Gerald McClellan by knockout. This is not Roberto Duran's weight.
Duran's weight range was from featherweight to welterweight. Anything else above welterweight was too much. No speed. No movement. Not much to ask for.
Iran "The Blade" Barkley beats Duran in a rematch.

Re: Gerald McClellan versus Roberto Duran
I think McClellan would've stopped Duran by late rounds, with Duran possibly being ahead on points at the time of the stoppage.
Re: Gerald McClellan versus Roberto Duran
I got McClellan by KO within 4 or 5 rounds. Too big, Too strong.
Re: Gerald McClellan versus Roberto Duran
McClellan by late round stippage.
Re: Gerald McClellan versus Roberto Duran
The G-Man would stop the Hands of Stone in the late round.
Re: Gerald McClellan versus Roberto Duran
Duran on points over 12. McClellan doesnt have the skills or the workrate needed to win this.
Duran outboxed Hagler but the bigger younger Marvin won in the end on sheer physical athleticism.
The skill difference here is much bigger. McClellan's size and power are not enough.

I get the points about this not being Duran's natural weight, but as we know, Duran's defensive skills and natural instincts, whatever weight, are not easily matched.
He was also a very clever, relaxed and sly fighter. Cannot see McClellan blasting him out, maybe outworking him, as Hagler and Barkley did. Duran hit respectably enough at this weight, but that was more down to his timing and experience.
He might not make any dents in McClellan early on. However, as the fight wears on, Duran would have closed the distance, reducing McClellan's power and would work brilliantly on the inside, albeit in spurts.
I also figure that he gave a peak ATG MW Hagler, a good (losing) fight and beat a decent, big, sturdy, hard punching MW in Barkley, as a barometer. McClellan falls somewhere between the two.
Could be closer than some people think, imo.
