A lot of new pro's used to have these types of boxers on their records. Especially on small hall shows. TBH, not seen these kind of records on a televised card for a long time

It’s an unfortunate byproduct of the crooked journey man system we have in the UK. Fighters basically paid to lose, usually on points. They don’t even try to win.

I thought the Board reserved the right to retain purses if a fighter didn’t try? Arrowsmith and his ilk should have had 100 purses retained.

I blame Nobby Nobbs, he started all this supposedly acceptable professional journeyman losers. It’s a scam. I may be wrong but it seems only Britain has this kind of set up of professional paid losers.

Eddie's cards aren't as stacked as they were a few years ago but they're definitely a lot more competitive top to bottom, I prefer that than a name fighting a can

Just gotta compare British boxers that started out in the 2000's..

Look at their first 10 pro bouts.

Then look at a American fighter of the same calibre and their first 10 pro bouts.

It was a way to pad and protect a record too in some ways.

Even Nick Ball's first 12 pro bouts weren't exactly the best. Just noticed, he didn't even go through the traditional route.

Not many left who have over 100 losses.

That was a phrase coined by Nigel Benn, who oddly never boxed a Mexican
But who needs foreign roadsweepers when there are endless professional paid losers in the UK. They will,occasionally win a fight (like every 30 contests) against another paid loser. This apparently is enough for the board to continue licensing these professional losers on the basis they are ‘trying to win’ and scored a rare win. Meanwhile naive paying punters come to watch their mate in an apparent boxing match, which is basically just an exhibition where one guy doesn’t try. It’s an utter scam.
