Re: Was Beterbiev vs Bivol a robbery?
I thought Bivol won and would have been fine with a draw but didn’t think Beterbiev did enough. In saying that no way was it a robbery as a few of the rounds were close and the judges could have gone the other way, I can’t see a case for the 116-112 card though
Re: Was Beterbiev vs Bivol a robbery?
Misleading poll bud. Should be a yes or no question.
Extremely close fight where you can’t whinge either way. Can’t be a robbery.
I scored as I went and found myself willing Bivol on to win but then had money on Bert points
What a fight tho, they should fight twice a year like El Classico I’d get the bbq out and invite people round every time

16-12 is bollocks like
Re: Was Beterbiev vs Bivol a robbery?
I'm not for considering it an either way going fight. Draw is the best possible option for Bert.
Re: Was Beterbiev vs Bivol a robbery?
I could see a strong case for a draw.. A win for Beterbiev was completely off the table on my card and I was neutral on this fight. I was just happy for the best man to win. Bivol clearly had the better moments and cleaner work. I think he really dominated the early half of the fight. The second half was real competitive and Beterbiev seemed to get into the groove later on.
Bivol done enough on my card and a draw would have been completely fine with me. I just don't see Beterbiev doing enough. He was getting peppered at times.

I thought Bivol won by 1 or 2 rounds (and gave him the first four) but it wasn't a "robbery".
Beterbiev clearly took the championship rounds, but I can't see how that was enough on the scorecards.
The judges obviously felt otherwise.

Re: Was Beterbiev vs Bivol a robbery?
I didn’t mind the decision too much, because it was a hell of a close fight: you could make a case for both deserving it
I thought Bivol nicked it but didn’t actually score it
but Beterbiev winning is better for boxing. He’s box office - knockouts almost guaranteed, except when he’s facing an all time great like last night.
Great fighter is Bivol, hugely impressive - But if he’d got the decision we’d have our light heavyweight champ scoring fairly dull one-sided decision wins over hopeless challenges, and fans would lose interest fairly quickly

Re: Was Beterbiev vs Bivol a robbery?
Of course it wasn't. Look at it this way, Beterbiev won the last two rounds clearly. That leaves 10 rounds left. He only needs to have won 4 of those 10 rounds to get a draw. If he splits the first 10 rounds he wins. I can't give Bivol 7 of the first 10 rounds, which is what he needs to win the fight. I can see a draw. I wouldn't have even complained if Bivol got 7 of the first 10 rounds and got the win but I can't complain with Beterbiev winning. Robberies are fights like that Richardson Hitchens vs Lemos fight a while back where he clearly lost at least 10 rounds.

Re: Was Beterbiev vs Bivol a robbery?
Bivol should have got off his bike.
Re: Was Beterbiev vs Bivol a robbery?
No, definately not a robbery. I thought Bivol edged it, he landed what looked like the cleaner harder shots, Beterbiev applied constant pressure and made the fight but it seemed like a lot of his work was not very effective, Bivol never seemed troubled by it, i actually feel Bivol could have and should have opened up more, but he was likely conserving energy and Beterbievs work may have been having more impact than it seemed to.
I feel if i was to rewatch the entire fight back its possible i could score more toward Beterbiev. So no, absolutely not a robbery.

Re: Was Beterbiev vs Bivol a robbery?
I thought Bivol won, razor thin. It wasn't a robbery, it wasn't even a 'bad' decision (though the 116-112 card was bad).
One of those decisions where you can disagree with the official verdict, but in mild terms.
Would like to see them do it again.

Like most, felt Bivol won, but it was very close. Beterbiev was pushing, and a draw would have been ok.
4 rounds to Artur was excessive and unfair on Bivol. Bivol was displaying a high skill set, moving blocking and countering, but this judge didn't appear to like that.

Re: Was Beterbiev vs Bivol a robbery?
I'll just paste what I wrote on the RBR after the fight:
116-112 definitely feels too wide on the face of it, but it's only 2 rounds different to how I scored it and lots of the middle rounds especially were so close, it's honestly a toss-up on what you like. No robbery here.

robbery is the most overused term in boxing

Re: Was Beterbiev vs Bivol a robbery?
Robbery is subjective. I thought Bivol either edged it or it was a draw, so yes, for me Bivol was robbed, but I cant call the fight a robbery as many thought Bert did just enough
Again, it is the 116 -112 card that makes people call robbery. That card is hard to defend

Re: Was Beterbiev vs Bivol a robbery?
I didnt hate the result, draw probably fairer.
Beterbiev looked a little off,he didnt look like he emptied the tank, i think he had reservations going in, fitness or injury.
Bivol was class. I felt, whilst his initial shots were getting through his follow up combos were hitting glove.
In a rematch i could see improvements from beterbiev, whereas that was bivols best.
Beterbiev could also go over the hill of course, nobody peaking at 40.

Re: Was Beterbiev vs Bivol a robbery?
Sick of people keep calling close fights robberies.
In no way that was a robbery.
Was a very difficult fight to score.
Casuals just listen to commentary or see who looks flashy. Don’t know how to score fights.
The only bad thing I can take away from the fight was the 116-112 card. Had that bean 115–112, then there would have been no complaints at all.
Fact is, I seen many people say Bert won. So it’s not like 99% of people out there are saying Bivol won.

Re: Was Beterbiev vs Bivol a robbery?
I scored it 6 rounds each but was probably being overly kind to Bivol in a couple of rounds.
Not a chance this was a robbery.

Re: Was Beterbiev vs Bivol a robbery?
Close fights are always melodramatically called robberies by many.
I thought Bivol edged. Draw was ok. Not even close to being a terrible decision though. Punchstats very close, I think very slightly edge towards Beterbiev by a few punches.

Re: Was Beterbiev vs Bivol a robbery?
In the first or the second Artur finished with some big shots and that swung it for me, and that’s make it a draw. I’ll go back and watch again today, and probably tomorrow and maybe Wednesday. That’s how good it was
Re: Was Beterbiev vs Bivol a robbery?
Consensus seems to be 14-14 or 15-13 Bivol.
16-12 Bert is hard to justify. But overall there’s no robbery, can we agree team?

Re: Was Beterbiev vs Bivol a robbery?
Not a robbery, but it's hard to see how 2 out of 3 judges thought Bert won ?
Yes it was close and difficult to score, but Bivol defused the puncher in a bit of a masterclass.
He kept moving, jabbing and frustrating Bert all night. He had to stand and trade occasionally, but this was mostly on his terms and he wasn't outclassed here either. Bivol was doing his thing successfully, Bert was being frustrated. Their body language at the end of the fight wasn't kidology - Biv thought he'd won and Bert thought he'd lost.
And it's fine to give Bert the last 2-3 round unanimously - when he finally wrested controld - and he did- because Bivol was 6-3/5-2 ish up thru' 9.
A draw is ok, but Bert winning...? No, c'mon !
The general consensus on BLH and Boxrec was Draw or Bivol, but 116-112... really ?!
Nb. We saw some murderous gangsters chatting with the Saudis in the ring afterwards - just FYI.
