Shalom must feel like a rubbing rag right now

Post by forcefraser »

Clearly the past couple of weeks have been tough for old Benny Shalom. Bullied and excluded at every turn by the big dogs, threatened with kickings and generally scragged around like a fully fledged left back for ragged arsed rovers

Last night must have been a hard pill to swallow. Firstly, the nailed on superstar, the future of boxing, the new future people`s champion Ben Whittaker was exposed for what he is, a feather fisted novice best suited to the amateurs. He was found out big time last night, smashed up by Cameron, taken deep and then feigned a way out through a dodgy injury. He was getting sparked out in the next round or two and everyone knows it. That is a big investment down the shitter for Shalom

Still dont get why people were so high on Whittaker. No pop on the punches is always a massive worry and showboating against guys 5 levels below is not what makes a future superstar. They have a very tough rebuild with this lad. He may not want it after last night

Then big Fraze gets iced in a round. Nasty. Two of his big hopes done badly.

I dont mind the guy actually, he`s what he is, but at least his ego is somewhat in check compared to the others. This night has done some damage though, no doubt about it.

Not happy what happened to Big Fraze. Hope he's OK but I'd be considering the pundit route if I was him now. Health first. However, delighted Whittaker seemingly choked after Cameron was starting to put it on him. Pay back of sorts for humiliating over-matched journeymen in the past. He's going nowhere.

I'm not a fan of Shalom, not a fan at all. Him and Eubank are a perfect match.

Everything Shalom touches seems to go to pot, Okoli , Riakporhe, god knows how much he wasted on the likes of Lauren Price and Artingsall and now Whittaker has been badly exposed by a tough journeyman and Clarke flattened at British level

Sky TV must be unhappy with what he is able to bring to the table - I mean if it wasnt for the Riyadh season fights being shared between dazn / tnt and sky they would have very little worth watching these days.

Ogogo went the wrestling route, same with Orie I think after he probably realises his limitations. Ben is a fraud in my book and should get out while his reputation is still intact and use it to get into wrestling or something. I'm not sure if there are any options like that out there but he had a few viral clips of himself showboating against cans. He was getting sparked in the next round or two in anyones book there.

Frazer is simply a very limited guy. He was far too easy to hit and lets not overrate Wardley - he is a low level swinger. The wrestling route might also be worth looking at for Frazer.

Neither guy should really keep going because it's only going to go one way. Whittaker certainly didn't fool anybody last night. Nobody believes his "injury" was legit.

Tough journeyman is very harsh on Cameron.

I'd totally forgotten about Ogogo taking up wrestling as a career. Is he still doing it anywhere?

Definitely has a better attitude than when at his peak and coming off a very solid performance.

Not criticising Cameron, but he has the perfect profile for a prospect to start swimming in deeper water without armbands.

I agree. Cameron was an ABA champ, a CW champ as a pro, he has real talent.

cameron's peek was commonwealth/english level at middleweight. that's not bad at all, but a supposedly bound for stardom talent like whittaker shoulda gotten through it. whats worse is that whittaker looked mentally like he couldnt cut it either. he wasnt liking it at all and was lucky it ended when it did

i bet the promoters who lost the bidding war to sign whittaker arent so disappointed right now

as for shalom, he is an example of fake it till you fake it

as ppl have mentioned before, there is lots of evidence that he totally bullshitted his previous business accomplishments prior to getting the sky front man position

Shalam taking losses in saudi is very tough indeed. I think BOXXERs plan right now should be to try consolidate in on the UK show market. with fwank and eddie so focused on saudi and top top class there is a gap to be filled in prospect-euro levle.

-Fraze... whitticker.... Marku... dan azeez. These are all guys you can build UK cards around, but they have taken losses...

-Eubank probably lined up for saudi in a fight that might happen or might just linger for a billion years...

-Billam smith in suadi (needs a win), but even if he wins will be in saudi...

Boxxer making saudi money is not a bad thing for them, not saying that, i just think they are missing there chance to consolidate the UK market whild fwank and ed are looking elsewhere. I dont think they have dived in and proved the sky machine is back and pumping, so if you were a hot prospect why would you even look at boxer right now...

I dont think FW is just focusing on Saudi, he looks like hes putting some of the money back into British boxing with good shows headed by Nick Ball and Liam Davies etc

He's still signed with AEW, but doesn't appear much. He was in a pre-show match on their show at Wembley stadium in august.

I agree - look at the upcoming Gilley vs Greene rematch at the York Hall as an example of that (which I'm particularly gutted about as I'm down in Somerset for a family thing that night).

Turki isn't just doing this with Eddie and FW, obviously Shalom has been brought in, and ODLH has a show coming up with all his fighters

Yes - the strain on his neck caused by such a huge ego which his ankles cant support .

The more I think about it the more gutted I am for poor Liam Cameron.

Robbed of the chance of an epic victory and maybe the chance to make some proper coin in his next fight? Who knows.

It's virtually unanimous that people thought he was on his way to beating and likely stopping the most overhyped prospect in world boxing.

That was taken away from him.

No chance he gets the rematch.
