Olascuaga/Gonzalez ends in a 1st round No Decision, accidental headclash about a minute in cuts Gonzalez above eye, didn't look that bad a cut tbh, ref allowed it to continue but Gonzalez wanted out, says he couldn't see, think he swallowed it tbh

I thought so to but then, well Tszyu blew his title and unbeaten record with his admirable bravado - for what ?

Tszyu's eye was far worse than Gonzalez

More his head ?
Gonzo's cut didn't look that bad, but it was kinda spurting and in literally the worst place.

Right enough it was Tszyu's head that bled like a sieve, Gonzalez looked like a nick but maybe I never seen it proper, looked a bit flimsy to bail out on a 2nd world title

I@m surprised !

Japan got the best rep for fair scoring - I even think they have a bit of a "hospitality" culture where they have to be overfair to visitors.

8-4 Naka for me, minus a KD. 115-112.
Naka won nearly everything afte the Kd.

Cracking fight that, I had Tanaka ahead 115-112, recovered well from a heavy knockdown in round 5 to outwork Cafu imo, Cafu was good don't get me wrong, lovely right hand counter for the KD and got through with some lovely work, Tanaka outhustled him in a lot of rounds though, never stopped punching, his body work was excellent, he maintained a high pace, he had Cafu hurt in the 12th, I still thought it was enough to retain his title, Cafu was impressive i just thought the wrong man won

i didnt see the whole fight, but a lotta the rounds that i did see i can understand how scoring could go different ways. tanaka with more volume in the arm punch tapping flurries vs cafu selective shots that he was putting more body into. last round tanaka was beating up on cafu and looked like maybe he could get a kd if he had thirty more seconds, but too late

a rematch would be cool tbh, was a high quality, competitive, entertaining fight

Tenshin Nasukawa has looked good so far in his career. Could be ready for a title shot pretty soon assuming he wins today.
