is jake paul a real fighter?
Re: is jake paul a real fighter?
Yeah he’s a registered professional fighter so you can’t say he’s not. His fights have always got a catch. Most are naturally smaller UFC fighters or much older or at the end of their career. He can fight a little bit but needs to be fighting other boxers on the way up. I have no doubts someone like Luke Modini or Floyd Masson could take him out. If he was as good as he makes out he could fight Chev Clarke or Vidall Riley but that won’t happen. One thing is he has plenty of money, can hire the best trainers and sparring partners and he does train like a beast. But we will never know cause he won’t take that route.

He's a little better than average 6 round prelim guy.

Yes and no.
Yes he's a real fighter in that I believe he gets in there, and gives a sincere effort.
No he's not a real fighter in that he's never really trying to test himself. He's fighting opponents that he has a distinct advantage over every time out, and hand picking what that advantage is.

He's a celebrity boxer like Butterbean was. The very casual fan vastly overestimates both.
Yes, they give a sincere effort and yes they are legitimately tough guys but there were/are at least 50 guys in their division who are far better and far less well known.

Yes, if we take away the hype and his insane marquee value - he would be a decent top ten domestic cruiserweight in the UK.
He is a bona fide tough guy but he has the money, resources and time to dedicate himself to becoming the best version of a pugilist that he can be. He is never going to get 24 hours notice to drive up to Glasgow to take on an undefeated 'flying machine' (as Nobby Nobbs used to call them) over six rounds and drop a decision. He promotes his own shows (as far as I know...) he recruits the best in the business to train him and he is diligent, strong and fit.
Will he get to a world title? Who knows, who knows... doubt it but who knows... he could probably get to an NABF title.
