Re: Was Beterbiev vs Bivol a robbery?
I thought Bivol won handily & was a little shocked at the cards but it wasn't a robbery.
They just saw things differently than I did.

That’s good to see & how it should be.Wales wrote: ↑14 Oct 2024, 05:55 Interestingly ALL 3 judges ringside agreed on 10 of the 12 rounds with the judges only disagreeing on two of the rounds … 4 and 7 . In both 4 and 7 2 of the 3 judges gave it to Bertebiev. So when singling out one judge need to consider he saw every round the same as the majority of the 3 ringside

What concerns me is where you get absolutely crazy scorecards like Taylor - Catterall 2 where clear Catterall rounds are going to Taylor & clear Taylor rounds were going to Catterall & there was barely a round that all three agreed on.
Re: Was Beterbiev vs Bivol a robbery?
That’s a good point. If I’m scoring I’ll make a note at the side that it was close so that if for example I score it 115-113 to fighter A & I’ve marked two close rounds that I’ve given to fighter A then I can’t be claiming a robbery if fighter B gets it 115-113.J-C wrote: ↑14 Oct 2024, 02:35Yep, I think that’s one of the things that never gets spoken about enough.
A lot of us scoring at home might give a close round to one fighter because we gave the last close round to the other. But, as I understand it, the judges are supposed to score each round as if it were a one round fight.
You’re right the 116-112 card gave all the close rounds to Beterbiev but I think there was only round 4 that he gave to Beterbiev without at least on of the others scoring for AB too.
I think a lot of people who claim robbery don’t actually score fights round by round. Simon Jordan was claiming that he felt Bivol deserved it but never gave us his scorecard which makes me think he didn’t have one.
Re: Was Beterbiev vs Bivol a robbery?
I had Beterbiev winning by a point so obviously my answer is "no"
And when everything is a "robbery", nothing is a robbery. We see this a lot today in several areas, when people try to be overdramatic and use big serious words, they eventually lose their meaning. A robbery is like Jones vs. the Korean guy in the olympics or something like that. 1-2 point swing type fights can't be "robberies", that's using language that's too strong for what it describes.

Watching it live I thought Bivol won. Just watched and scored and it was a lot closer than I thought. I actually had Beterbiev winning 115-114 but can see how someone else can score a round the other way so could easily be a draw or a Bivol win.

Can't really say who won a fight without having a scorecard
Does anyone think that Fast Car has a scorecard?

Just proves the general point though, doesn't it. You can definitely watch a fight and 'feel' someone has one it, but scoring round by round is totally different.JamesPhilips wrote: ↑15 Oct 2024, 17:42Bro - I thought Bivol won. Maybe boxing should just scrap RBR scoring entirely? Must be better ways of doing it

I think the best solution is wider scoring options. Like the 10 point must sytem is simplisticBoxerbeetle wrote: ↑15 Oct 2024, 19:09Just proves the general point though, doesn't it. I don't have a problem with a close fight going the wrong way just as long as there is an immediate rematch. If there's no immediate rematch then it stinks.

Re: Was Beterbiev vs Bivol a robbery?
So many of the rounds were really close, the kind of fight where it’s easy to get three different results
Re: Was Beterbiev vs Bivol a robbery?
Here the poll is for Bivol, but there're more votes in the database, there it's 7-5 for Bert in rounds and 113,83 vs 113,79 for Bivol on points.
The 7th round is the closest. I gave it for Bivol.
