Noel Mikaelian vs Ryan Rozicki rescheduled for September 28th on PPV

Noel Mikaelian suffered a cut while preparing for their initial June date

Don King’s one and only champion, WBC cruiserweight titlist Noel Mikaelian, will meet Ryan Rozicki atop a September 28th show in King’s usual haunt of Casino Miami Jai Alai.

Would-be viewers can catch the show “on Pay Per View via Triller TV, DonKing.com and Itube247.com”

Mikaelian (27-2, 12 KOs) has fought just four times since a hugely questionable decision loss to Mairis Briedis in 2018’s WBSS tournament. After a pair of wins over limited opponents, he outclassed faded slugger Youri Kayembre Kalenga to earn a shot at champion Ilunga Makabu, whom he subsequently brutalized in three last November.

A June date with Rozicki (20-1, 19 KOs) fell through after Mikaelian suffered a cut, making this the latter’s first bout in nearly 11 months.

Canada’s Rozicki has won seven straight since falling to Oscar Rivas in 2021, but his run is better on paper than in reality. His biggest win, a split decision over contender Yamil Alberto Peralta, was such an egregious robbery that the WBC outright refused to give Rozicki the alphabet trinket that was on the line. He was last seen handing the extremely overcooked Olanrewaju Durodola his eighth stoppage loss in December.

Pay-per-view worthy? Not in the slightest, but at least the genuinely skilled Mikaelian is back in action.

Noel Mikaeljan-Ryan Rozicki WBC Cruiserweight Title Fight Heads To Oct. 4 Purse Bid

A fight scheduled for last weekend is now headed to the auction block.

The Ring has confirmed that the snakebit Noel Mikaeljan-Ryan Rozicki WBC cruiserweight title fight is back on purse bid status. The two were due to meet on a Sept. 28 Don King Productions show in Casino Miami Jai Alai in Miami, Florida.

No reason was given for the show’s cancelation. Whatever the case, it was enough for King, Mikaeljan’s promoter, to be declared in default of his original agreement.

Rozicki is promoted by Daniel Otter’s Three Lions Promotions.

The fallout marked the fourth time that the fight has failed to stick to a scheduled date. There were issues dating back to a cut suffered by Mikaeljan (27-2, 12 knockouts) in training camp which killed plans for their June 7 meeting. An agreement was made to reschedule, in lieu of a new opponent sought for Rozicki.

Three postponements later, the patience of Rozicki’s team was long exhausted.

“We are now hopeful to win the purse bid and Ryan to become the WBC World Champion,” Otter told The Ring.

Mikaeljan, rated No. 2 at 200 by The Ring, was due to make his first title defense. The 33-year-old Armenian won the belt in a third-round knockout of former titlist former champ Ilunga Makabu last November 4 in his adopted Miami hometown.

He remains the only active titlist on King’s current promotional roster.

Rozicki (20-1, 19 KOs) will enter his second career title fight, whether in the U.S. or on home soil.

The 29-year-old from Ontario, Canada has won seven in a row since an October 2021 defeat to Oscar Rivas. Their fiercely contested battle marked the inaugural WBC Bridgerweight title fight.

Rozicki was due to fight outside of Canada for the first time in his career. His team’s intention is now to keep the fight north of the border.

Rozicki-Mikaelian reach agreement: Dec 7 Canada

Promoter Dan Otter (Three Lions Promotions) was in Mexico City Friday to meet with WBC President Mauricio Sulaimán for the purse bid between WBC cruiserweight champion Noel Mikaelian (27-2, 12 KOs) promoted by Don King and mandatory challenger Ryan Rozicki (20-1, 19 KOs) promoted by Otter. The two sides were able to reach an agreement and the bout will now take place December 7 at the Centre 200 in Sydney Nova Scotia, Canada hometown of Rozicki.

“We were able to make a deal with Don King minutes before the deadline and we are overly excited to bring this world title to Canada. Ryan is ready to become world champion and eager to get in the ring,” said Otter.
