Queensberry Promotions signs multi-year exclusive broadcast deal with DAZN

Queensberry Promotions has entered into a multi-year media rights agreement with DAZN, making the sport entertainment platform the exclusive broadcast rights holder of their boxing events.

The deal, which is expected to start in April next year, would see fighters from Queensberry stable such as, Daniel Dubois, Zhilei Zhang, Fabio Wardley, Moses Itauma, Hamzah Sheeraz and female boxer Chantelle Cameron, broadcast exclusively on DAZN.

“This is a hugely proud moment for Queensberry, as we join forces with leading platform DAZN on an exclusive basis,” said George Warren, Queensberry Promotions CEO. Queensberry has undergone an unprecedented growth period over the past 18 months, and firmly established ourselves as a leading promotional and events company.

“Now with DAZN in our corner, we can further accelerate our positioning on a global scale. This deal is also fantastic news for boxing fans across the world as we combine our best-in-class stable of fighters with what we consider to be the most ambitious streaming platform in sport.”

The deal adds Queensberry to the likes of Matchroom, Golden Boy Promotions, and Misfits as global broadcast partners of DAZN. According to allegedly, Queensberry Promotions Founder and Chairman, the partnership is expected to help market the sport globally.

“I could not be more pleased that Queensberry is joining DAZN. This is a brilliant move for our fighters and, most importantly, for the fans. Their ambition and passion for the sport of boxing aligns perfectly with that of our own and we now look forward to putting on the biggest nights possible together.”

For DAZN, the deal with Queensberry would make their brand the topmost broadcaster in boxing having already sealed deals with other top promoters.

We offer boxing promoters something no other broadcaster is able to deliver – international reach, unmatched production and an innovative, future-proof product. Would be the death of them.

Most of their key names have contracts which center on Boxxer having a Sky deal.

So if (when) Boxxer lose the Sky deal, those names can hit the market and go with a proper promoter.

If you're a fighter, do you want Shalom as your promoter on DAZN or do you want Frank or Eddie? No brainer.

Boxxer could try and take a run at TNT but again, the same "off Sky" clauses will be triggered and their main names will be gone.

Their best hope is attaching themselves to Turki as much as possible. But then they've also got to watch out for being talent-stripped by Goldstar, which is really the Saudis.

Hell of a pickle coming up for Boxxer next year. It's not a coincidence that Shalom was recently doing interviews talking about doing non televised shows. He seems like a man who knows his £8-10m a year budget is a thing of the past..

Irs either back to the little leagues for them or continue to try and play at the top level but on very borrowed time as they get asset-stripped by the big boys.

Shalom also had a stinker in Saudi last time he was out there. If he's made himself seem a nuisance, that's not going to help his case with the Saudis.

I may be wrong but I think they're going away once the Sky deal is gone. They'll eke out some fights with CBS, Eubank but Azim, Dubois, Whittaker will all be going.

Apps are a palaver. There is no competing with the reach Sky has.

Yeah everyone can get the app in theory.

But in practice loads of people simply aren't going to do that.

So you take your product where the people are, you don't demand the people build a road to reach you.

Trouble is, DAZN are basically just a PPV delivery centre now, expect people to pay extra for nearly everything decent. If they binned off PPVs like their model was allegedly intended to do, then I'd go back to subscribing. As it is, they can piss off.

But, Matchroom haven't been able to build a single star since they started on DAZN. Their arena shows barely fill half of the venues. None of my mates who watch a lot of boxing if it's on Sky on a Saturday night (and buy more PPVs than me) subscribe and they won't do when Queensbury move over.

It's allegedly on an app, great for hardcore boxing fans, but largely ignored by casuals. And casuals make boxers into box office stars. Sky (and to a lesser extent BT/TNT) have played a massive part in that process over the last 25-30 years.

I’m pleased as a DAZN subscriber but I don’t think it’s a good thing for the sport.

Boxing needs more eyeballs so putting more of it behind a pay wall that casual boxing fans won’t have isn’t going to help grow the sport or make stars.

Read Adam Smith was advising Shalom ,, Now people seem to think Sky will ditch Shalom , then give up on boxing , Myself i always see little yellow men , hiding under the bed with there ray guns , and can't help but think , will Adam Smith rise from the dead and be given the Sky Deal , I know I know , conspiracy theories and i must be paranoid
