Live boxing tonight. World under 19s final including York's very own Leo Atang at approx 9.15 uk time.
Mods, please leave this here for a while. Loads more traffic than the am section and I'm sure a few will be interested.

Well, won 1st round stoppage. York has a world youth champion! National champion, 3 Nations champion, Haringey Cup winner, Brandenburg Cup winner, World under 19 winner. And he's 17.

Re: Live boxing
He was horrendous. The kid in the semi gave Leo his hardest bout. Really tough fight and Leo struggled with the high altitude. There was only four entries at super heavy. I dont know why as all the other weights were well represented. The Korean beat quite an experienced Italian to get there. Leo boxed five times in a week to win the Europeans. He also beat the New Zealand champ of all that region in the Haringey.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑01 Nov 2024, 20:25 leo obviously a stud but that korean kid was woeful, looked like a begginer. shades of rahman's arms out defense in the lewis rematch. wonder how many fights he had to win to get to that final

He's hopefully getting matched on a club show here on December 7. It's been years since he's boxed on a home show.

John-Joe Carrigan wins England's eighth gold medal. England easily the best team followed by India and USA. They need Russia back in for the competition.

Without wishing to demean the success of the England team, this is not the World Championships of IBA (AIBA) but that of the breakaway WORLD BOXING who have significantly less national federations on their books.
I'm not sure who places the advertising but running and re-running ads that say 'never have to worry about shaving your balls again', or selling a VIAGRA substitute that 'enhances the size of your wiener
and keeps you going for hours'
is probably not best placed on a stream that features young men and women?

I'm aware of that, but still some big nations there. As I said, the Europeans were much harder.Tarquin Tarpaulin IV wrote: ↑02 Nov 2024, 18:16 Without wishing to demean the success of the England team, this is not the World Championships of IBA (AIBA) but that of the breakaway WORLD BOXING who have significantly less national federations on their books.

Think about 50 with World boxing & still 200 + with AIBA which dilutes the championship , needs sorting out to keep boxing in the next olympics , most of gold medalists turn senior in January so the offers / temptation to turn pro will be there . Leo Atang & John Joe Carrigan are serious prospects & would guess all the top promotors will be sniffing around.

I don't know about Carrigan but Leo would be a PR dream. A really nice kid from a quiet suburb of York with an excellent upbringing.Floydendizer wrote: ↑03 Nov 2024, 05:41 Think about 50 with World boxing & still 200 + with AIBA which dilutes the championship , needs sorting out to keep boxing in the next olympics , most of gold medalists turn senior in January so the offers / temptation to turn pro will be there . Re: Live boxing
i saw the korean's previous bout, turns out the italian was deducted 2 points and woulda won without those deductions. was a bit of a slop fest.
taylor o higgins chanel also posted a bunch of bouts from the iba world youth championships that just happened with different countries
irish adam olaniyan won gold , looking a bit like young david haye. some of these east euro/uzbek/kaz teenagers already look 35

Re: Live boxing
There's an article in this week's Boxing News about the attempt to match Leo and Olaniyan on a club show here next month and talks from the other side of an exhibition. Leo also got called up to GB academy this week. He's still a youth next year so no seniors yet.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑04 Nov 2024, 09:32 i saw the korean's previous bout, turns out the italian was deducted 2 points and woulda won without those deductions. was a bit of a slop fest.

I've just spoken to Leo's coach. There's been a bit of poetic licence there by Boxing News....

Anything goes in Ireland , not the strictest association.
