Foreman (vs Frazier) vs Holyfield (vs Foreman)
Old George took rounds off Evander, would prime George take him?
Re: Foreman (vs Frazier) vs Holyfield (vs Foreman)
No. It wouldn't be the same, but actually it could have ended worse for Foreman, since he would be more aggressive, while we had seen in the Ali and Lyle bouts, how the aggressive Foreman could be punished.
At his best Holyfield was faster, smarter, tougher and more advanced technically than any version of Foreman. Big George would leave too many openings for Evander.
Holyfield by TKO in about 8.

I would pick George Foreman by knockout in 5. Big George was too strong. I don't think that he would get tired like he did with Muhammad Ali and Jimmy Young.

Have to agree with Elmer for once. If an ancient Foreman could hit Holyfield that often, imagine how often a prime Foreman would nail Holyfield with harder punches. More often than not. Foreman would have stopped him early.
Re: Foreman (vs Frazier) vs Holyfield (vs Foreman)
This is a really interesting one to think about. I'd imagine that the younger Foreman would've been able to catch Holyfield enough to either hurt him or knock him down on several occasions early on. Holyfield was tough as nails, and had the heart of a lion so it's possible he could've hung in there, and came on strong at the end possibly stopping Foreman late. If he couldn't stop Foreman late he'd probably be too far down on the cards to catch up, and Foreman would edge a decision in a great fight.
Would've been a tremendous fight for sure.

Either Foreman of the first Frazier fight stopping Holyfield of the 42-year old Foreman in the late rounds or decision or Holyfield would counter Foreman's powerful punches to either take a decision or stopping him later than Foreman's fight with Muhammad Ali.

Yeah, but this is the Foreman from the first Frazier fight.

Does this version differ much from the one of the Ali fight?keithmoonhangover wrote: ↑14 Nov 2024, 12:45Yeah, but this is the Foreman from the first Frazier fight.

Holyfield was levels above any version of Foreman

That's about how I see it too, by the way.DrDuke wrote: ↑07 Nov 2024, 10:37 No. It wouldn't be the same, but actually it could have ended worse for Foreman, since he would be more aggressive, while we had seen in the Ali and Lyle bouts, how the aggressive Foreman could be punished.

Yes, that's why I posted 'Frazier' and not 'Ali'DrDuke wrote: ↑14 Nov 2024, 23:46Does this version differ much from the one of the Ali fight?keithmoonhangover wrote: ↑14 Nov 2024, 12:45Yeah, but this is the Foreman from the first Frazier fight.

Maybe it was about the same Foreman just against different fighters?keithmoonhangover wrote: ↑15 Nov 2024, 04:52Yes, that's why I posted 'Frazier' and not 'Ali'DrDuke wrote: ↑14 Nov 2024, 23:46Does this version differ much from the one of the Ali fight?keithmoonhangover wrote: ↑14 Nov 2024, 12:45

Do you have a different outcome in polls "Foreman (vs Frazier) vs Holyfield (vs Foreman)" and "Foreman (vs Ali) vs Holyfield (vs Foreman)"?

No, but you're welcome to start one if you like.DrDuke wrote: ↑15 Nov 2024, 06:51Maybe it was about the same Foreman just against different fighters?

Re: Foreman (vs Frazier) vs Holyfield (vs Foreman)
Why then you pointed at an importance of the fact, that the poll is about Foreman of the Frazier bout, when Foreman's performance vs Ali was mentioned?keithmoonhangover wrote: ↑15 Nov 2024, 07:04No, but you're welcome to start one if you like.

I only mentioned Ali in reply to you. This thread is about the Foreman from the first Frazier fight, that's why I put that in the title. If it was about the Foreman who fought Ali, the title of the thread would have been different.DrDuke wrote: ↑15 Nov 2024, 09:23Why then you pointed at an importance of the fact, that the poll is about Foreman of the Frazier bout, when Foreman's performance vs Ali was mentioned?
Re: Foreman (vs Frazier) vs Holyfield (vs Foreman)
But why is that so important, since you don't see any difference in Foreman of the Frazier and Ali fights?keithmoonhangover wrote: ↑15 Nov 2024, 10:08I only mentioned Ali in reply to you. Re: Foreman (vs Frazier) vs Holyfield (vs Foreman)
It's important, because I think there's a difference. Foreman was the young, hungry challenger in the Frazier fight.DrDuke wrote: ↑15 Nov 2024, 10:12But why is that so important, since you don't see any difference in Foreman of the Frazier and Ali fights?keithmoonhangover wrote: ↑15 Nov 2024, 10:08I only mentioned Ali in reply to you.
