Freddie Pendleton had a habit of beating contenders when considered the opponent, he was 14-13-1 when he knocked out Roger Mayweather.
Pendleton ended his career with a 47-26-5 record and an IBF world title.

Agree not super wide but super clear.

On the domestic circuit William Warburton & Brett Fidoe deserve an honourable mention for snapping a few unbeaten records.

Chris Saunders taking Kevin Leushing's '0'.
The rematch was a crazy fight.
Steve Robinson beating John Davison and then upsetting the other brits (McMillan, McKenzie, Hoko)

Lower level, but in the 90s there was an undefeated Welsh prospect called Gareth Jordan was getting some hype and even talked about for the British title , he lost to the always game Mervyn Bennet who was something like 12-9 at the time.

Re: Fights journeymen were not supposed to win.
Surely been mentioned but a fella named Scott Harrison who was 4-0 at the time was expected to beat Miguel Matthews who was something like 11-80 , didn’t quite end up like that.
Re: Fights journeymen were not supposed to win.
Although seeing him bashed around by Sosnowski a couple of fights previous meant it wasn’t a massive surprise to me, but Danny Williams was not supposed to lose to Carl Baker. Remember it caused a bit of a cuffel as Danny was British champion at the time.

Yeah it's on youtube somewhere.
Eddie Hearn spoke about it in an interview years and years back, said he was stood in the crowd behind Vice when the punch landed and it looked like McDonnell had been shot in the head by a sniper.
McDonnell carried out the ring on a door that had been pulled off it's hinges shows the level of medical care at the time.
Re: Fights journeymen were not supposed to win.
Wasn't Harrison a victim of the old BBBC rule that you could be stopped on a cut even if caused by an accidental headbutt?

Had that not happened then Herbie Hide vs Danny Williams would have happened for the European Union title.

I think this was another accidental headbutt TKO. Why the hell didn't they change that rule decades beforejameswilson wrote: ↑31 Dec 2024, 04:34Had that not happened then Herbie Hide vs Danny Williams would have happened for the European Union title.

Not sure if been mentioned but Kevin McBribe was still a prospect when Louis Monaco stopped him. Then McBride was a journeyman when he stopped Mike Tyson.
Re: Fights journeymen were not supposed to win.
Blaine Logsdon v Crawford Ashley.
Hastings Rasani also had a fair few decent wins, as a journeyman.
