Eurosport Commentators...

Post by Lefthookhappy19 »

...please fuk off!! I can't listen to these fuker's! Their negativity drives me mad! I was watching Vitaly Tajbert tonight, a prospect. I rate this dude. He's got tons of talent and a unique style. Fuking Holdsworth and that other twat wouldn't shut the fuk up with the critisism the whole fight. A fighter can't be unique in his style or he's wrong! Everyone has to fight strictly orthodox or they are shite according to them! Almost all the of greatest boxers of all time had a unique style and done something different, thats what made them special.

I rarely watch Eurosport boxing and thank fornicate I don't! The commentary is unbearable!

And Vitaly Tajbert is gonna win a world title. I rated him in the amateurs. The thing is is that he is a pure counter-puncher. He's not going to look extra special like in tonights fight if he has to chase down a guy that doesn't want to fight. Against someone who's coming to win he will look the part. He'll eat pressure fighters for breakfast.

Woodhall's always been a good commentator. I liked it when Holdsworth practically said that a particular fight would probably be a lucky win for the home guy. Woodhall goes "oh, give it up" or something to that effect

I don't like Sky's commentary but tonight was ridiculus. They went overboard. Holdworth starts getting negative then Bob Mee joins the party. Bob Mee may know his shit, but that doesn't mean he's a good commentator. Frankly I think Holdworth has had his day. He sounds like a grumpy old man. He never has a good thing to say.

It's a thankless job to commentate on boxing. Has there ever been a commentator who met with universal approval?

How can they commentate on top quality fighters and fights and then do a commentary on a lower level contest with the same enthusiasm. They must have a mental history of commentating the full spectrum of fights and fighters from great to shite and they have to do it with a sense of impartial perspective.

Press the mute button you get no atmosphere. Always liked Harry C's and Reg G's less is more approach, and the fact that they didn't try to come across as experts on the action.

Most, if not all, have met with my dislike at one time or another, but it's a difficult job is what I'm trying to say. The one's who have cut their teeth commentating on a range of sports on the radio, trying to cover every bit of the action as though they are experts, piss me off the most.

I also don't like Jim "Stop the fight!" Neilly.

I like the dude who commentates for Showtime in America. He does basketball as well I think. I also don't mind HBO's commentary. I feel they add to the broadcast and make it interesting.

One last nights bill, I was very impressed with Sebastian Zbik. Seen him fight on a few occasions, never thought much of him - but last night he looked the part.

I think he looks ready to step up and fight for a intercontinental esque belt. Spotlight though do seem to take an age to step up their fighters (far worse than any promoter in the UK) most Spotlight fights seem to be mismatches.

I think Vitali Tjabert looked interesting as did Zbik. Not sure about Koeber.

Those German shows are a bit weird to watch - they never seem to get that excited - they just sit there politely. It kills the atmosphere a bit.

RE the commentators - yes the negativity does bug me a bit. And if you listen to them it is impossible to get a decision in Germany - they are always biased against the house fighter in a competitive fight.

EG Willy Blain won a decision recently and they were in uproar and said all along 'I bet they give it to Blain' as if it was a sticth up.

Then all websites and magazines (inc boxing news) said it was a fair decision as I thought it was watching on TV.

LIstening to the commentary it was as if Blain lost every round......

Sorry but your all a pack of sad old bastards, dont like it put mute on. what you want them to say everything you agree with, at the end of the day they have opinions and if you dont like it so be it, they cant nature for everyones taste, who else could fill the role... But if someone did you lot would still complain, you cant win with some of you guys. :TU:

Perhaps a similar option to the interactive services on the beeb / skysports.

press red to... hear just the crowd, mute, maybe a fanzone would be possible although unlikely to be taken on by eurosport but sky do it for footy, why not boxing?

I find Steve Holdsworth's commentary refreshingly candid and opinionated. He calls it like he see's it and doesn't mind putting his neck on the block.

No way did Willy Blain deserve the decision against Mosquera by the way, he looked well behind before he even got decked in the 10th. It WAS a hometown decision and the way Blain boxed over the final two rounds reminded me of Sven Ottke - knowing he only had to survive to the final bell in order to get the decision.

Steve Holdsworth was equally honest and opinionated when Sprott got ripped off in Austria against Virchis, in another Tuesday live Eurosport show.

And in defence of Holdsworth, he has had to commentate on more mediocre/outright crap boxing than any other commentator we have, so if he occasionally sounds bored or jaded, it is not surprising !

True but knowing your stuff doesn't make you a good commentator. There are some woeful commentators about at the moment.

Holdsworth is terrible, I know some like him but most of his rhetoric is needless. Adam Smith is just shocking. McKenzie is the worst of the lot god only knows why ITV persist with him surely they realise he's wank?

I think Bob Mee is doing a good job although not sure about his chemistry with Holdsworth. I do sense when Steve discusses (on the non delayed shows) how nice part of the world they are in and then asks Bob what he thinks.... Bob does sound a tad embarresed like he knows the viewers don't car and is left in a sticky situation.

I wouldn't mind seeing the roles reversed, with Bob as the main commentator and Holdsworth doing a bit of analysis. The main guy should be describing the action and then adding a little bit of facts (from the statistion/researcher) - The second commentator justs should really describe the ebb and flow of the fight. Bob is almost doing both jobs at the moment and Steve just commentates on the lovely dresses that are on view.

Its a tough job mind
