Do we need a Super Series Tournament at Welterweight to bring back the division? (Request for Turki)

Post by klitoris »

147 division has historically been a great division, but these days it's on a serious low after Crawford moved up. Ennis obviously is a really good fighter, but I think it would make sense to do some kind of tournament to bring back interest.

Ennis (IBF)
Norman Jr (WBO)
Barrios (WBC)
Stanionis (WBA)

I would propose:

QFs
Barrios (c) vs Ramos (Rematch for WBC belt)
Norman Jr (c) vs Papot (Decent first defence for the WBO belt)
Stanionis (c) vs Giyasov (WBA Defence that I believe was ordered)
Ennis (c) vs Benn (IBF Defence and a top fight)

Then obviously, have the four winners fight in the semis (make a draw, I suppose) and the winners of those in the final.
These fights could really bring back some interest in the division imo.

Make it happen, Turki! :bag:

Let's do it .
Ennis just got offered Ortiz at 154 and didn't want to know, how hardcore is Welterweight these days.

That's true totally forgot about him. He'd be a better option over Papot.
