What’s his 5 best wins?

Porter
Carson Jones
Gavin
Senchenko
Khan

He had a better domestic level career than world level for sure.

His CV doesnt match his talent.

Lots of reasons, as have been alluded to.

Would have loved to see him fight Spence without the needless GGG beatdown.

He looked class v Spence for 6 to 7 rounds. Went to pieces down the stretch. Giving Errol credit, he worked the body from the off, but squeezing back to ww after fighting at MW leaves a big question mark for me.

One has to give Brook credit for fearlessly stepping in, even at short notice, against GGG, Spence and Terence. He did well against GGG and Spence too before he got injured.
The guy was a serious player. He made a lot of money as well.

40 wins. Only one of them against a genuine world level fighter in Shawn Porter.

The rest is a carousel of bums and D-Level no hopers like Donut Dan and Frankie Gavin. One good win in 40 fights is pretty poor going.
That is not pathetic.

Having just one great win out of 40 fights I would say is pathetic. When you go to his second best wins, you're reaching Donut Dan and Frankie Gavin levels. They would only just scratch the Top Ten in say Khan's resume.

Brook was a better fighter than Khan. He was a good level above. But Khan's record is much better

Having your second best win be D-Level Donut Dan and Frankie Gavin is. If it wasn't for the Porter win, his record wouldn't have one world class fighter on it. It wouldnt even have a fringe world class fighter on it.

Frankie Gavin is his second or third and he peaked at British level.

Bang on. Guess that's the frustration could have even beaten Spence.

But he did make a boatload of money.

If his record is pathetic I dread to think what same critics make of area level boxers. Personally if I'd turned pro and got to area level or fought for the British id be quite proud nevermind beyond that.

I don't think any bumming was done

There were rumours that someone took offence to bumming suggestions

Or someone was brought somewhere on false bumming pretences

Another mistake was he kept talking about moving to 154lbs cause he was struggling at the weight, but he never properly moved there or went for a title shot there. Still clinging on wanting them 147lb paydays..

154lbs was weak at the time, you would have expected him to win a world title there.

Really nice guy.

The GGG fight gave him (and Matchroom) plenty of £s but destroyed him as a fighter at his peak.

I respect the balls to take the GGG fight. What a win that would have been. He dared to be great and may have put himself right up there in British boxing terms with that win and world terms also as he was following in the footsteps of the great Sugar Ray Robinson. Everyone knew GGG was a monstrosity of a fighter. Eubank Jr. swerved the fight. Brook stepped up. He took his hiding but I'm glad he made the attempt and he gets my respect for that. It should serve as an ominous warning to any future 147 pounders who fancy themselves as the second coming of Sugar Ray Robinson. Stepping up to 160 pounds and beating bigger mauling styles requires greatness.

It was a strange career rather than a poor one, 10 years as a pro before getting a world title shot for someone of that talent was it him or his promotors fault?
A great away win against Porter was a highlight and then his world title defences went the same way as Witter , disappointing against poor level contenders.
Brooks shot at Golovkin was hopeful rather than believable, you could see that from the corner work who pulled him out as soon as GGG started getting to him.
The style of the loss against Spence didn't do him to many favours, although it was understandable when he pulled himself out due to the eye damage.
But saying that he did fight the best fighter in the middle and welter division at the time , how many British boxers have done that in the past?
For me Brook was a very talented boxer , who was too good for British/euro level , but a step below the top of world level.

Fwank wrote a letter to the judge to keep him out of prison early on in his career. Kell had a huge say in why his career didn't run smoothly.

I think he was managed very very well , his matchmaking was excellent , I don't think anyone can deny he was above British Level , but below world elite level , yet he was managed into high paying world level fights and retired a rich young man , on the back of a couple of fights , It was obvious through the good matchmaking he was never along to become a champ and stay there , money was the goal and the goal was acheived ,Sometimes in the sport of profesional boxing , thats the way to do it

I disagree. I think his team let him down with the GGG fight. He could have beaten Spence. Frustrated at stupid IBF mandatories and Khan ducking him, they just thought "Fukk it" and threw him in. Ingle as complicit as anyone. I've heard it said loads of times to overmatched kids, just have a go and we will throw the towel in when it gets too much. To be fair, he did have a go.

His career was a theme of lots of over matched opponents and then himself being badly under matched for a few big ones.

For me Brook's career was an endless conveyor belt of over matched opposition and then on the few occasions when he stepped into the Lion's den he suffered bad beatings.

Completely disagree about him ever being able to beat Spence. Brook looked as good as he ever looked against a dangerous world class opponent that night but got taken into deep water and hurt. Spence still had plenty of improvement in him, so it was fortunate Brook caught Errol when he did otherwise the result would have been worse.

Maybe, I'm biased towards Brook.
