For me Brook's career was an endless conveyor belt of over matched opposition and then on the few occasions when he stepped into the Lion's den he suffered bad beatings.

Completely disagree about him ever being able to beat Spence. Brook looked as good as he ever looked against a dangerous world class opponent that night but got taken into deep water and hurt. Spence still had plenty of improvement in him, so it was fortunate Brook caught Errol when he did otherwise the result would have been worse.
Maybe, I'm biased towards Brook.

I wouldn't go that far. Take away his bad lifestyle and the GGG beating and he had a chance.

A great away win against Porter was a highlight and then his world title defences went the same way as Witter , disappointing against poor level contenders.
Brooks shot at Golovkin was hopeful rather than believable, you could see that from the corner work who pulled him out as soon as GGG started getting to him.
The style of the loss against Spence didn't do him to many favours, although it was understandable when he pulled himself out due to the eye damage.
But saying that he did fight the best fighter in the middle and welter division at the time , how many British boxers have done that in the past?
For me Brook was a very talented boxer , who was too good for British/euro level , but a step below the top of world level.
Fwank wrote a letter to the judge to keep him out of prison early on in his career. Kell had a huge say in why his career didn't run smoothly.
Very interesting, do you know what Brook was in trouble for?

Yes agreed still make Spence the favourite but Brook was in that fight.

People say if it wasn’t for his socket going again he would have beaten Spence.

Yh he was in the fight but the fairy didn’t cause the injury.

Yes he may well have still lost to Spence and gotten stopped too. But those saying he had no chance in the fight I feel are on the other extreme.

To say avoiding bulking up to middle and having your eye socket smashed by GGG wouldn't have improved his chances of performing better in the Spence fight is bit narrow minded IMO, even if only by a few percent.

As we know at the top level it's a game of inches. I also thought sadly Spence was past his best in the Crawford fight and hasn't been the same since his accident.

im not sure if kell would ever beat spence, might just not be hard enough or have the engine to keep him off for the distance. id have to favour spence still. but getting in good rounds vs lets say 2 or 3 more decent contenders , even just a jessie vargas, and not being eye smashed in by ggg couldnt have hurt his chances

kell's career once he's moving onto world scene is wonky because its pretty much all him being matched vs knockovers or vs p4p elite who knocked him out. very little between, which is the level he should have been busy at. for me he had more than enough talent to put together a resume similar to what a danny garcia or tim bradley or maybe even spence did.

The Khan win isn't worth mentioning, he was shot to shit. Brook had a good career without it.

Brook was in the fight against Spence for sure, and he gave Errol a good run for his money.

The loss, however, was very conclusive. Brook pushed himself as hard as he could but Spence was superior.

We really don't require guessing games...the fight is there for everyone to see and ultimately Kell couldn't handle the heat. He showed plenty of guts in the fight against someone who went on to become the 2nd best Welterweight in the division.

I disagree. I think his team let him down with the GGG fight. He could have beaten Spence. Frustrated at stupid IBF mandatories and Khan ducking him, they just thought "Fukk it" and threw him in. Ingle as complicit as anyone. I've heard it said loads of times to overmatched kids, just have a go and we will throw the towel in when it gets too much. To be fair, he did have a go.
Naaw , Nope , no way , You don't go from the fights he had to beating Spence , its two different leagues , the GGG fight WELL THAT WAS A NEVER GONNA WIN SITUATION BUT MADE HIM A MILLIONAIRE the way to go now for quite a lot of boxers is simply build up the record put yourself out there and cash out on a couple of lossess , He done it better than most . Its what they played for and its what they got ,

There were other good fights besides Khan he could of chased to grab a legacy , but he did'nt , In hindsight , he was lucky he had a good record and the dodged fighters like GGG were there to pay him good money to grab his scalp ,All in all well managed , he ended up rich , not a lot do that

Pre GGG Brook would beat Spence.
A devastating and painful loss to GGG added with bulking up for the fight certainly cost him the win. The weight cut for the Spence fight was too much added with sickness in training camp Brook was a shell of a man because of GGG fight

Theres no doubt the GGG fight took a fair bit out of him but he had the surgery and his eye was said to be healed and stronger than before. It was the other eye that Spence done, which suggests Kell probably had some general weakness in that area.

As far as I'm concerned Spence always beats him. The body shots were vicious and he was getting to Kell. Kell wasn't able to effectively stop that body attack. He was able to wrap up Porter but Spence was just able to get them off. Spence was also effective from range. It wasn't one way traffic but I think Spence was always looking like the boss. It's all about opinions though so I respect your view. The talk about the weight cut isn't Spences problem. He was always a disciplined guy whereas with Kell I heard about the weight issues many times during his career.

dont think anyone has mentioned how poor he was vs Bud

totally outclassed.

as others have said he was maybe above british level but is that because of the level ...

brook just never had the power to gain any repect from the more elite level fighters he went in with , and putting him in with GGG FFS how stupid is that !

That one was purely 150% just for the payday.

Like I said, he didn't even have Ingle. He probably chucked few hundred to his cornermen for the fight.

Later, Ingle did come out and say, he would only do a full training camp with him.

Going in with someone like GGG wether it was him or someone similar , i suspect was the cultimation of years of hard work , He was never going to be ppp or a long reigning champion , he grabbed the big money when he could , and would of been thankful for it , your not gonna see Kell BROOK , running around building sites with his kids in tow , saying , ... I can do that , gizz us a job , He knew what he was doing and jumped in with both feet and 2 hands , whats more he would do it again . .

How many have you heard in the pub say , i'd fight Mike Tyson for a million bucks , well Kell did'nt dream about the opportunity , he lived it

I get it from a ££ viewpoint .

however looking at GGG previous half a dozen or so fights against well known names who he destroyed compared to Brook who was fighting at a much lower level .. or some might say tomato cans

even the win vs porter is a bit dubious - one of the judges was Adelaide Byrd no less

People saying Brook wouldn't have had a chance regardless of being damaged by the Golovkin fight are talking nonsense.

At the time of the stoppage Spence led on all three scorecards with Adalaide Byrd having it 97–92, Alejandro Lopez 96–93 and Dave Parris 95–94 ESPN's Dan Rafael had it 95–94 in favour of Spence, as did Sky Sports' Carl Froch, BBC 5 Live's Steve Bunce and FanSided. Trainer Adam Booth had it 96–94 and both The Guardian and Showtime's Steve Farhood had it 96–93 for Spence.

Only good old Adelaide Byrd the most corrupt judge ever had it wide

That’s a bit unfair. The bud fight is irrelevant, Kell was shot by then
