P4p all time Jan 2005-Jan 2025

Post by stujones »

Ok, been thinking about how lucky we’ve been to witness some of the greatest fighters in the history of the sport and was thinking where does usyk lie in the atg of the sport , likewise where does he lie for fighters in the last 20 years.

So, let’s see your top 10s…. Okay last 20 years rules, , so yes providing said fighter successfully defended a meaningful (big 4 or ring / lineal) title after January 2005 then yes you can count their whole career… so Oscar De la Hoya as an example you can consider his whole career (defended wbc title in 2006) , Roy Jones Jnr is not eligible.

Just gonna start with some randoms! JC is the British fighter to consider, then PBF, Canelo, PAC, Crawford, Uysk, Loma, Ward, Beterbiev, Inoue.
Well there is 10 there, sure I have missed some, obv ODLH is worth a mention too, Hopkins, GGG a top 10 is going to be a real challenge

Aside from those mentioned…can also make a case for Mosley, Marquez, Chocolatito, Donaire, Cotto.

Despite having some great wins in this period, Winky Wright never made a successful world title defence in this period.

What an era

Usyk likely #1

Then I'd have a tier with Pac, Mayweather, Hopkins, GGG, Alvarez, Crawford, Loma, MAB, Calzaghe, Bet and Biv... Likely missed someone.

We need a good think and do it properly, a top 10 will be tough, especially as there is nothing between so many of the fighters.
For me PBF is number 1, beat everyone, Canelo, Pac, Mosely, ODLH, JMM barely won a round

I think I’d have to have a few more of the older guard ahead of Loma. I think I would have dlh, Mosley, Hopkins and Marquez ahead of him. Not a dig at loma who is and was class, just accomplishments based.

Tank Davis of the current crop might also Sneek into a top 20.

It amazing era, I think all mentioned in this thread would make a top 100 of all time.

Sorry but I can’t see Vitali Klit in the top 20. Especially above Donaire or GGG.
