Fighter you want to see retire in 2025

Boxing is a dangerous game and it saddens me watching older fighters like Riddick Bowe and James Toney talk.

There are several documentaries on Youtube about old fighters with CTE, one very poignant one which includes the Quarry brothers. Also there’s a good book by Tris Dixon on brain injuries in boxing called Damage.

I hate to see fighters go on too long.

Who would you like to see turn it in?

For me:
- Derek Chisora - too many head battles and almost 40
- Usyk - now 37 and has achieved everything. Like to see him leave with his health
- Joe Joyce - has take a lot of punches, is 38. Zhang really rattled him
- Tyson Fury / Joshua - I’d like to see them fight each other then retire
- Sam Egginton - taken a lot of punches. Not sure if he’s still active
- Zhikei Zhang is 41 now would like him to get a title shot then retire this year or retire if Kabayel beats him

Leigh Wood I hope it’s his last year he’s had some hard fights.

And Warrington, he’s made money, just had another child, is a director of a boxing management company and can do other things

Jugg is such a great guy. He should have gone pro sooner but chased his Olympic dream I suppose.
Leigh Wood deserves a mega one now.
Josh has put in some hard yards and this might sound terrible. He’s really overachieved. Salut Josh.

CBS because I like the guy and he got badly exposed. Sort of puts a q over Okolie and Midnight Train.

I don’t know. Danny Williams hopefully has finally put his feet up and thrown the gloves in the dusty.

Controversially, perhaps, I'd like Fraser Clarke to hang them up. He seems like a guy who is going to take a lot of heavy, heavy shots win or lose.

With you there Jimmy. Seconded. A lot of people thought JJ was impregnable until Zhang. Now those same people (me included). Don’t wanna see that again. Fraze got bombed so maybe a flash in pan. Not sure on that.
We all love our gladiators- this is boxing . Doesn’t mean we turn our thumbs down though.

I would like to say that fight then both retire.
Also Deontay Wilder should retire if he hasn’t already. Once a fighter gets Zhanged, he’s finished.

Not really. What could have been never was... it will be a casual festival.

Luis Ortiz, Pulev, Joe Joyce, Charr, Mike Perez, Kevin Johnson, Chisora. Badou Jack if he's still active.

Wilder and Whyte probably have one more fight in them before nobody will bother watching them again so maybe they should face each other then retire.

If Fury and Joshua face off once or twice, then the loser or both should retire.

I would like to see Beterbiev against Bivol one or two more times but other than that I wouldn't be against him retiring at the end of next year.

Erislandy Lara is one big loss away from retirement I think.

fury`s last year with one fight vs AJ and if he loses then take the ££ and go - if he wins then probly a rematch and more £££ . The casuals will be creaming their knicks for it
AJ beats fury and if the head is back in the game can go for another year or two in terms of physicality and fitness .

even if it was some funky jaw issue that led to the dent in his head (seems weird but apparently thats a real thing that can happen), it freaks me out a bit to think of him getting bashed up again there

Pulev strikes me as one of them fighters that will carry on till he's 50, never heard him mention retirement. He's a wily fighter and rarely gets badly hurt

Josh sure has and spent a few years working full time whilst building himself too. Very random a dental technician!

Del Boy I hope retires, he is the epitome of a Prizefighter and I’m glad he’s made money.

I’d forgotten about Danny Williams, I hope he doesn’t pop up again it really isn’t safe to keep fighting that long, those commissions that permit it are cruel.
