Think his memory wasn’t brilliant at that time after a long career and this worsened things and put him down the slippery slope a bit quicker. A real dick move from the bloke who nutted him.

It would depend on the registered cause of death as to whether it would be linked to the assault or not. I'm not sure whether he died from deterioration from dementia, but I'm sure if he was able to give evidence in court that he wouldn't have sustained a subdural haematoma / haemorrhage from the incident, especially at 68 yrs of age and being described as "frail" prior to the assault. It would be really difficult to evidence whether the deterioration started from his younger days and long boxing career or the later incident. The immobility (if there was any from it) and psychological damage from being attacked however really wouldn't have helped his condition.

That's more clear cut. Depaula died as a result of the shooting. Again I'm not sure of the registered cause of death, but on the balance of probabilities he would be immobile due to the shooting, that in itself would cause numerous problems. If the cause of death was an aspiration pneumonia, aspirated secondary to immobility secondary to the shooting... There's a causative link.

In the UK an assault whether intentionally or recklessly which has a direct cause to a person's death then manslaughter or murder would be considered (again depending on the circumstances of the case).
