Re: Fury retires........yawn
Fury’s actually getting fairly predictable now. Who knows if the retirement will last. It wasn’t long ago when he was saying he’d never retire.
He has a strong legacy. Some people don’t give his win against Wlad much credit, same as some don’t give AJ much for his win against Wlad, but it deserves a load of credit. Also deserves a load for the Wilder wins (should be 3) but I don’t think it’s revisionist to be not overrate of those wins now given Wilder’s actual wins/other performances. His win over Whyte also deserves credit too.
Outside of that unfortunately there isn’t loads. Certainly not enough to be counted as an all time great heavyweight in the same way as Lewis, Tyson, Holmes etc.
I’ll always think it’s a real shame that Fury had time out after the Klitschko win. I think he was at his peak then and would have been very tough to beat. Obviously the drugs ban doesn’t help his legacy either.

always been an attention seeker .
is there a concidence that a few days ago they had those ring mag awards with the biggest gathering of boxers ever seen and he was nowhere to be seen .
Yesterday was the launch for 22nd feb mega card which he wasnt going to be a part of .
so he chooses the same day to witter into his phone about retiring like a spoilt brat .

Interesting that everyone assumes he is angling for money. But no one is suss on a failed test.
The time fury actualy retired (for 3 years) he was serving a ban for PEDs.
would it be crazy for fury having lost the first fight to look for a little extra advantage and have an “adverse finding”…. And now needs some time for a secret hearing…

I did wonder about it in relation to the doctor being investigated who he has links to but surely they were tested anyway for the fight on Decembergregregegg wrote: ↑14 Jan 2025, 17:55 Interesting that everyone assumes he is angling for money. But no one is suss on a failed test.

Imagine having such an ego that even though as a doctor you are poison to your clients/patients reputation you still gotta throw the selfies on the socials…

Re: Fury retires........yawn
AJ should just start fighting fury’s brothers and smashing them to bits to cause a bit of niggle.
Lil 5 million to Tommy, lil couple million for Roman, lil few million to Shane, fornicate it go to some dodgey jurisdiction and a little 5 million for big John fury, Mabey do it on the cobbles up north… just start the narrative that Tyson is the only pussy in his family that won’t fight him…
Fvck it the cousins, aunts, uncles, they can all get it. Just starch a fury for a couple million once a month for the next year… (bill em all as “AJ vs Fury”)…

I expect Fury to stay retired until AJ commits to another fight, then return against someone he fancies as a lower KO risk. Possibly Jon Jones, if Turki's down. Unless Aspinall loses in the meantime.
Or there's always more WWE, but he's a heel through and through. He doesn't work as a face.

Correct - it was Frank Maloney. It's an old phrase - nothing original about it.Cyclops wrote: ↑13 Jan 2025, 20:22 If he's retired then he's not subject to mandatory testing, right? Who knows and frankly I'm not arsed.
I'll watch the fight between him and Joshua but as people they're boring to me, now. They can both f*ck off, actually.
And that Dick Turpin line, wasn't that what McDermott's promoter said in the post fight interview after the first Fury fight?
Re: Fury retires........yawn
so its any or a combination of :
He knows its the end after 2 clear losses to Usyk and he cant claim to be numero uno any longer or ever again .
The doctor ped thing thats come up and any impact that may have on his training regime .
Expects to be tempted out of retirement by Turkis deep pockets.
Playing the game so AJ moves on and could lose to fighter XYZ which puts Fury above him in some way .
he is a spoilt brat and wants things his own way or not at all .

This century, not the past century. Lewis had some good wins after '99 though.
Usyk doesn't even rate himself alongside heavyweight legends.

Disappointing to see Fury deny the fans the big British dust up.
