Not seen Loynsey on here for a while. If he's here or any other M&A types are on here....
Why is a 10% share in a loss making company with revenue of circa $3.5bn worth $1bn?
Not a dig at the price, I just don't understand it. $350mn to $700mn top end is what I, as a layman, would think.

It's probably not worth USD 1 billion
However this is a pish in the ocean for these guys and gets them influence on a global stage to execute the next stage of their evil plan

Maybe they see the growth of money in sport and it's potential to get even bigger.Nightmare Roy wrote: ↑15 Jan 2025, 16:09What is their long game do you think? I wonder about this a lot?forcefraser wrote: ↑15 Jan 2025, 15:14 It's probably not worth USD 1 billion

They need a plan B for when the oil either runs out or is phased out in favour of renewable energy. Looking at 30 to 40 years minimum in my opinion before that happens, but they might be putting bits in place piece by piece
Sport and Tourism are probably two things that they might see as a replacement and in terms of sport, controlling it keeps them fully relevant. Without something to define them they just become a load of strange blokes in an empty desert.
They going big in Boxing, Football, golf and now they going after tennis.
Could all end in disaster and break the back of a sport that can't bear the weight of a bubble

It’s a relatively new thing. Countless loss making businesses are valued extremely highly. The idea is that the customer base, intellectual property, brand name and potential of future profits drives the value.Jimmy2025 wrote: ↑15 Jan 2025, 15:05 Not seen Loynsey on here for a while. It has lead to some people becoming extremely rich by taking the chance but most just turn out to be well overvalued. I don’t get how someone could value DAZN at $10bn at the moment as I don’t really see the potential of profits for them in the next 5 years.

It's the dot com bubble all over again, when you had 3 blokes in a garage with an interwebs site valued more than Tesco, just a massive punt.maverick23 wrote: ↑15 Jan 2025, 16:50It’s a relatively new thing. I can anticipate the Saudis buying Dazn eventually, money is hardly an object for them and it completes the next part of the regime's mission. That and stoning gays. Bit worrying that they make the Kinahans look like cheeky cherubs.
