Azim taking pelters on here I thought he was quality, boxed a mature fight, apart from constantly hitting Lipinets in the balls and landing up getting docked a couple of points he boxed well, controlled the tempo, looked sharp first half, working the lead hand well, jabbing and hooking, easily outmanoeuvring Lipinets,, the knockdown in the 3rd was top drawer, Azim slipping out of danger and dropping him with a peach of left hook, Lipinets is nails though, kept pressing with the high guard and looking to close the gap, his beard is incredible, second half of the fight Azim held his feet,worked inside and started mailing Lipinets with the right hand, especially they uppercuts, literally couldn't miss, he absolutely battered Lipinets in the 8th, only heart keeping him up, it's a disgrace his corner sent him out for the 9th, no surprise it was the right uppercuts which had the ref stopping it, aye I was impressed bar the low blows but always a risk when a tall fighter is throwing body shots against a short guy

El Gatto and Thunder a fair way ahead of him at the moment imo.
Azim is devoloping very nicely indeed, but he's still a 22 y/o prospect, not an 'oven ready' world title level 12 round fighter. Lipinets is class, but done - what would Dalton Smith have done to him..
Beaten him up quicker and more impressively Shirley ?

Azim was a lightweight last year, Lipinets is a career super lightweight and obviously won a title there, for where Azim is in his career I think its perfectly acceptable

Almost every new 'big name' in boxing is using advanced sports science to be a weight bully.

Haney, Benavidez.. Azim from the UK. Not saying they don't have skills, obviously they do, but wouldn't it be great as the old saying goes to 'pick on someone your own size'.

First off, I thought great matching, smaller, faded guy, Asim looked great at length showing his speed and skills, punching spitefully too.

Then he started punching low.

I get it as a bit of revenge or to slow someone down if you are hurt, I don't really get it. Maybe he had run out of ideas a bit.

Then he was standing in range and trading, maybe he felt there was nothing in the Russians punches, but he was giving the fella a chance to get shots off.

Then the ref stopped the fight off a jab??

He must have been concerned that Asim wasn't changing tactics and would have had to disqualify him after the 2 points were taken off, if he had done it again.

Then after the horrible British stoppage, Asim celebrated like he had won a world title.

Talent to burn, maybe some temperament issues there.

Maybe he was knackered, and the big celebration was out of total relief.

Yep, how far to cut is the fighters call, there’s a point where it is not a benifit anymore.

I would like some one fc style hydration testing at weigh ins to stop silly weight cutting, but you would have to move every division by about 10-15% so will never happen…
