I'm being a touch provocative, but maybe there is something in Asims make up that resorts to such things when he doesn't have everything his own way
Adam Azim vs. Dalton Smith - who wins?
Re: Adam Azim vs. Dalton Smith - who wins?
I make Smith the favourite right now.
Azim IMO is on the run from Smith.
The low blows were not impressive !![[icon_e_sad.gif] :verysad:](./images/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif)

A few things could be happening here.
Maybe they think Asim isn't quite ready yet and want more time
Maybe they are looking for top money, play hardball, like when Frampton got paid big against Quigg, they will probably want to be co promotors too.

Azim is 22, if I was managing him I'd swerve Dalton for 3 years

Re: Adam Azim vs. Dalton Smith - who wins?
Adam Azim: I'm a dangerous fighter. Dalton Smith needs to get better fights if he wants to be ready for me
Adam Azim has a warning for British rival Dalton Smith: "He needs to get better fights if he wants to have a proper fight with me. Because I'm a dangerous fighter"; Azim also believes Harlem Eubank should give up his pursuit of Conor Benn and meet him in a super-lightweight bout
Adam Azim believes his British rival Dalton Smith needs to step up the level of his recent competition, if they are to fight each other.
After blasting away former world title challenger Jose Zepeda last year, in recent months Smith has dispatched Walid Ouizza in a round and then was taken the distance by Mathieu Germain.
Although Smith picked up the European championship Azim used to hold, the Slough fighter contrasted his last two opponents with Smith's.
"It's a bit shocking because how can you go from Zepeda into fighting two average fighters," Azim told Sky Sports.
"Look at the fights I've been taking; Ohara Davies, Sergey Lipinets, two great fighters, good fighters and very tough fights. He's not going into tough fights."
Azim added: "You want to fight a good, well-established name and fight people [so] that you're actually going to keep your momentum up, instead of fighting people that you'll knock out in the first round.
"If you're mandatory to fight for the world title, fight for the world title. I don't know what he's holding back for. If you don't fight for the world title, then you're going to lose that opportunity."
He had a warning for Smith.
"He needs to buck up, fight better fights and get going because sooner or later you're not going to be developing and you will lose before you even fight me," Azim said.
"He needs to get better fights if he wants to have a proper fight with me because I'm a dangerous fighter."
Azim wants that showdown with Smith. He also has an eye on another UK opponent, Harlem Eubank, who he was due to box last year, although sustaining an injury saw that bout eventually fall through.
"Conor [Benn]'s not even looking at Harlem so I don't know why Harlem's chasing the fight. I think Harlem should get down to super-lightweight and fight me," Azim said. "But I don't think he wants to fight.
"They probably don't want to fight me after two great performances."
Azim, who wants to box three times in all this year, believes he is closing in on his own world title fight.
"A hundred per cent. I want to win a world title probably this year or next year. I'm still young, I'm still fresh," he said.
"You never know. It could be the next fight, it could be the next fight after that. We'll see. At the moment, the way it's going, it's going great and I just need to put my head down and focus and put all the emphasis on training.
"Just upwards now, trying to fight world-class fighters now so I'm looking forward to the next fight."

Azim, much easier than people think.
Re: Adam Azim vs. Dalton Smith - who wins?
I like that interview. Both came across well. There’s no need to be dicks. The promoters & people like Barry McGuigan & Sunny Edwards will sell the fight when it gets made.

Re: Adam Azim vs. Dalton Smith - who wins?
‘I want to achieve my goals’: Dalton Smith focused on title shot, says he can fight Adam Azim later
Dalton Smith is prioritizing a WBC title fight over an Adam Azim showdown.
Dalton Smith tells Sky Sports that his first priority is securing a world title opportunity, which he hopes will come very soon now that he’s been named WBC mandatory challenger at super lightweight — a title currently held by Alberto Puello who appears to be lined up for a voluntary defense against Subriel Matias this summer. With that being the case Smith is just waiting his turn.
Of course there’s talk of a potential fight against Adam Azim, a fight that Smith says absolutely will happen at some point, but he’s got bigger fish to fry for the moment. As Smith sees it, he’s just one fight away from achieving his goal of being world champion and he doesn’t plan on taking an immediate detour just for the sake of an Azim fight.
“I want to win a world title first but the Azim fight will always be there,” Smith said. “There’s too much noise for it not to happen on my behalf and his behalf. The fight’s eventually going to happen, it’s too high of a demand.
“Whatever the fights, while I’m winning and the fights get bigger, my career doesn’t stall for Adam Azim. I want to achieve my goals and that’s to become a world champion. I’m one fight away from achieving that.”
Even still, looking towards an eventual matchup with Azim, Smith says that he believes he has Azim’s number, and because of that he’s not particularly concerned about what Azim will bring to the table. For now though, Smith is keeping his eyes on the prize while he expects to turn his attention to Azim soon thereafter.

Dalton Smith tells Adam Azim: It takes two to tango! World title the fight I want now
Dalton Smith had a message for Adam Azim: "It takes two to tango!"; Sheffield's Smith intends to fight for the WBC world title before eventually boxing British rival Azim, but added: "Win the world title and those fights will be there"
Dalton Smith will look to win a world title before considering an all-British bout with rival Adam Azim.
Sheffield's Smith is No 1 challenger for the WBC belt but will have to wait for Alberto Puello to defend that world championship against Subriel Matias on July 12 in New York.
Smith's next fight is still to be confirmed. "Nothing yet. We're hoping we get that world title next. I think we should have some news in the next month or so," he told Sky Sports.
"That's the main focus. I'm in the No 1 mandatory spot, I've fought twice this year so that's the one I want."
Smith was at Oakwell Stadium on Saturday night, in the corner of gym-mate Thomas Essomba. Azim was due to box on that bill, only for his fight to be cancelled once opponent Eliot Chavez was pulled from the card after they had weighed in.
Mexico's Chavez was refused permission to box after it emerged he had used a sauna to make the weight for the contest.
Smith, though, was not disappointed to miss out on crossing paths with Azim last weekend.
"At the end of the day it would have been Adam's fight night. I wouldn't be that disrespectful to take [attention] away when he's fighting. But obviously his fight fell through," Smith said.
However he added: "Our time will come."
He insists he wants that fight to happen, but told Azim: "It takes two to tango. I've been there to tango. But it's on their behalf now."
He is not expecting a summer showdown with Azim to be his next contest.
"It doesn't look like it," Smith said, before noting: "Win the world title and those fights will be there."

Azim is on a completely different level...he will win.

Who’s fought better opponents?
Re: Adam Azim vs. Dalton Smith - who wins?
Anyone heard any news about either of these two chaps lately?
Azim was red hot (in the news) a couple of years ago but that seems to have quietened down now.
Smith doing the slow but steady route.
We have Barboza & Paro out there who would be great fighters to try out against if they want to progress to the top level.

I just don’t think Dalton looks that great. Don’t understand the hype. I would expect Azim

Azim is the better talent and I would expect him to win. I’ve got no idea what’s going on with Boxxer, but if there’s an opportunity to do Azim v Smith on the Eubank - Benn card, it should be a no brainer. Azim doesn’t sell much and Dalton does ok ticket wise, but nothing to write home about.

Also I imagine that Asim has some promotional problems at the moment

The fact Azim team have turned down the smith fight on 3 occasions and dropped European title. Doubt they will go for a September fight with smith.
