Half decent win for Azim. Lipinets is tough but is nowhere near the fighter he was...plus the low blows damaged Sergey in the process.

When it comes to match making & guiding a boxer the McGuigans are unparalleled...which is why they haven't put Adam in with Dalton Smith, simple as !

The result isn't a foregone conclusion, but if the fight was to happen next...Smith appears to be the superior boxer IMO.

If the McGuigans thought Aziz could win they would be pushing much harder for the fight.
I don't see Aziz having the stones to square off with Smith in 2025 and will continue to duck Dalton for at least another year.

Azim is not out of his depth at all based on what himself and Dalton have done in the ring. I would have him the favourite to be honest. The fact is, the longer they wait, the higher the chance of Azim winning as he does look to be improving. Dalton has looked good but I haven't seen great improvement in him. He's just been looking good since day one. Of course he's improved a bit but Azim has improved more. They are ducking the fight - no question about it, but I'm sure they see it as a smart business move. However, as I always say, I'm not a boxers accountant. I want to see the fights as much as the next guy and I couldn't give two f**ks about their bank balances if I'm honest.

Adam is very good boxer, no doubt about it. The McGuigans wouldn't be with him if they didn't see his potential to become a world class boxer....and he's well on the way to mixing it with the best in the business.

I think the two things that stand out to me is that Smith has boxed better opposition (purely my opinion)....and I'm sure Azim isn't prepared to risk squaring off with Smith yet (certainly not in 2025, but i'd be delighted to be proved wrong).

235K WATCHED AZIM BEAT UP LIPINETS

Been told that the Feb. 1 Adam Azim-Sergey Lipinets Sky Sports broadcast peaked at 235k viewers for Azim's 9th-round TKO win over the former world champion Sergey Lipinets. The entire show averaged 130k viewers.

A 130k average isn’t anything to write home about but it’s not completely awful either.

I’m not sure how many channels/which channels it was on either I.E. if it was also on Sky Showcase then it’s a poor number.

To put it into context the whole darts world championship averaged around 500k viewers across the entire event. I.E. there were on average 500k watching each session of the 3 week event.

Considering subscriptions are down, it’s not the worst.
