Could tell Eddie was frustrated afterwards, saying Jack threw it away by not giving it everything. He's such a frustrating fighter, much too negative and just can't go up the gears when needed.

I must say Jack has great support. They've got to be the most loyal in the game, cheering away even if he's not doing anything. Even if he'd won though, theres no potential to grow. There are only so many ticket buyers in Chorley and they're already there. He's not a crossover fighter and he's hidden away on DAZN.

Well I’m glad that’s over. I didn’t even realise it was only until yesterday, so I made sure to keep the TV off

Professional boxing is showbusiness. If you are not charismatic or volatile in and/or out of the ring it doesn't matter if your style is effective you simply won't gain significant traction even if you do keep winning. Jack C and Hughie Fury are both perfect examples.

massive platform ! that FW has chosen to ditch tnt for hmmm Ok
If Catteral had given everything and been more willing to up the workrate and trade enough to win a few more rounds and been clever enough to nick some by playing the game & going for it in the last 10 - 20 seconds of each round he would now be in line for a title fight vs Teo Lopez or if he vacated JC would be installed as the champ and would have world title defences against probably much more well known names than Barboza.
And that would be on DAZN or wherever Lopez is going given his odd situation .
But he didnt quite make it so remains in the also ran pack and probably unheard of outside of the North west apart from more serious boxing fans .

FW went for cash. Nobody I know who isn't a serious boxing fan subscribes to DAZN. A lot would have watched on Sky. It's a crap platform. The boxers are almost unheard of. People like Bellew and Groves were very well known to all sports fans, Kell Brook too.stevec@france wrote: ↑16 Feb 2025, 11:40hidden away on dazn ......mickey1975 wrote: ↑16 Feb 2025, 08:24 I must say Jack has great support. I wonder what their UK subscriber numbers are? I haven't subscribed since they hiked their prices and I don't know many who do.mickey1975 wrote: ↑16 Feb 2025, 12:05FW went for cash. Wonder what will happen if having FW's fighters on DAZN doesn't seen any substantial increase in subscribers ? It's getting too much for punters, at least with SKY and TNT you get other sports for your money but not much else when you pay for DAZN so it will be hardcore fans again like with BNJimmy2025 wrote: ↑16 Feb 2025, 12:48I wonder what their UK subscriber numbers are? Re: Round-by-Round: Jack Catterall vs. Arnold Barboza | DAZN - 15 February 2025
It was the Taylor fight on Sky that did it for him. I had people who didn’t follow boxing asking me about the decision because they knew I liked boxing & they’d heard how controversial it was. It crossed overmickey1975 wrote: ↑16 Feb 2025, 08:24 I must say Jack has great support. They've got to be the most loyal in the game, cheering away even if he's not doing anything. Re: Round-by-Round: Jack Catterall vs. Arnold Barboza | DAZN - 15 February 2025
It's a waste of money since nearly every half-decent card is on PPV anyway. I just buy the very occasional event which is worth it and don't bother the rest of the time. That seems a pretty typical stance amongst proper boxing fans, so I imagine their casual subscriber base must be tiny.Jimmy2025 wrote: ↑16 Feb 2025, 12:48I wonder what their UK subscriber numbers are? Catterall is a good fighter, turned up and did the job against Taylor, but this time he didn't, the fight was there for him to win, but he didn't do it.
A lot of the time in fights it's the pressure which gets to you, don't matter how good you are, boxing is a mental sport, not just in boxing however, all high level sport, you need to produce the goods at a given time.

Zelfa Barrett was one of those overhyped fighters. One of Jazzas easiest wins of his career.

Jack got into the habit of fighting safe and going to decisions in his career rather than upping his output and making it clear he won. This is a guy who went the distance with Ohara Davies in a stinker of a fight that could have gone either way. He's just content to sit back with his counter left and then use his lateral movement and look to counter. It means he ends up in close fights and has to rely on judges. I'm not shedding any tears for a guy who fights that way. Barboza is a limited guy, we saw him lose almost every round to Sean McComb, who was forced to quit in a fight against Gav Gwynne because the going got tough. I think Catterall has had his 15 minute of fame as a headliner.

SO TRUE , How many of us have seen the next best thing in boxing , work and spar in the gym but just never be able to get over the line on the night , guys who would never ever reach there potential , because something was missing , on the night they just can't perform .Coco wrote: ↑16 Feb 2025, 16:08 Catterall is a good fighter, turned up and did the job against Taylor, but this time he didn't, the fight was there for him to win, but he didn't do it.
