Josh Padley

Post by Taansend »

First off, I apologise to anyone offended by this question, but.....

What do you reckon his purse is going to be for this weekend?

I'm guessing around 100k quid but genuinely have no idea.

Either way, I'm very chuffed for the lad. As he said, he was crawling around in lofts setting up solar panels on Tuesday then gets home from work & gets THIS fight. I'd fornicating love it if he won.

I've never been to Doncaster but, fornicate me, they do produce a decent amount of boxers.

Again, I think that's Hearn been misquoted.

Good luck to him, I love it when a late sub gets his life changed in a good way, let's hope he puts up a good show and is walking away with some good money.

I worked Josh's corner many times when he was an amateur, he is a great lad and deserves a good pay day.

Massive money.

The only ranked fighter who could possibly make weight to keep this a world title fight as I understand it.

I'd imagine at least half a million dollars.

No idea if this is a good or accurate source but it says Schofield was getting $1.2m.

How much is Floyd Schofield earning against Shakur Stevenson?
According to Blue Bloods Sports TV, Floyd Schofield Jr. has confirmed that he will earn a substantial $1.2 million purse for his February 22nd fight against Shakur Stevenson. This figure does not include potential pay-per-view revenue, which could significantly boost his earnings if the event performs well in sales.

I don’t really believe a lot of these sites. Sites like Sportek as well. It’s usually bullshit.

$1.2m seems reasonable though.

Saudi’s are throwing money, but mostly for main events.

If he's getting anywhere near that, that's brilliant. Good for him.

And I see some people are disappointed with him being the choice of opponent. If Chamberlain had won their bout last September & HE was brought in would you think the same? Padley beat the man being groomed by The Man so he gets the (last minute) shot.

I had to leave for work after the 2nd round. Josh was doing well up til then :OhYes:

How did he do & what do you think his level is in future?

Would you give him a chance against Joe Cordina?

I just googled average house price in Doncaster & it's about 180k. I think fighters get about 40% of their purse (not sure about UK tax in this though) so if he earnt 500k he should be ok on a nice place for him & the Missus.

I wonder if he did any networking in the Solar panel business while in Saudi. If you can sell solar panels in Yorkshire, Saudi Arabia should be a piece of piss.

He struggled there on in, but gave it his best shot .

Stevenson obviously is a very talented kid ,but so disrespectful.

Hard to judge on that performance tbh but I'm sure his stock has actually risen in defeat and he'll get plenty more British level fights for sure.

I thought he gave a very good account of himself. Brave as they come, can really box and knows his way round the ring. I think he can certainly get to European level. It will be interesting to see what he can do with full time training camps.

I thought Shakur lacked class as a person. Incredibly ungracious in victory against someone who did him a massive favour by coming in on 4 days notice.

That price for a house is about right in some areas of Doncaster. You can certainly buy one for 20k in Edlington, maybe Princes Crescent, Dukes Cresent.

I doubt that very much.

I cannot see him getting more than 50k

But, Suadis are chucking money around so if he got 500k that's fantastic for the lad

I don't think anyone would advise buying a house on the royal estate as an investment! There's a reason you can get a house there for 20k.

Padley said in an interview that he made enough to retire. Electricians are not on bad money at all so he must have made a few quid.
