Martin Bakole
Martin Bakole
Would he have defeated Parker if he had a full training camp ?

Re: Martin Bakole
i defo think he would've done better, he was massively out of shape even for his usually meaty standards, not to mention he was in ethopia and then flying literally the day before the flight. no way he couldve been fully prepared but id have gone with parker anyway
Re: Martin Bakole
I don’t think so.
Parker put him away in less than two rounds. If Bakole had done better I’d say maybe. He didn’t though.
There’ are four levels to the Heavy rankings
1- Usyk
2- Agit, DDD, Parker
3 AJ and Fury winner.
4- everyone else.
Should AJ and Fury not meet they are also here.

Re: Martin Bakole
It if went past 3 rounds and Bakole was puffing, then yes.
But to stop him so early before he was really even physically taxed means no amount of training camp would have changed the outcome.
Parker had him hitting air and whenever Bakole did land Parker was gone and out of range. Training camp doesn't fix that sort of gap in movement.

Re: Martin Bakole
on the slow mo you can see his head jolt a bit, defo not a clean shot but it was a big swing that landed in a vulnerable spot
Re: Martin Bakole
There was a flush right hand about 4 seconds before the equilibrium shot that snapped Bakole's head 90° and if you pause it right at the end of the arc Bakole's eyes are just all white. It sounded like a gunshot on the mic and I think that was the instigator shot. Parker isn't a one shot KO guy
Re: Martin Bakole
Bakole looked terrible
Re: Martin Bakole
He looked fat. No pressure. Lower work rate. Slow hands. You can say short notice all you like but why on earth was he so out of shape while not in camp.

Agreed, that shot that caused Bakole to shake his head was the real killer.KiwiRider wrote: ↑23 Feb 2025, 01:48There was a flush right hand about 4 seconds before the equilibrium shot that snapped Bakole's head 90° and if you pause it right at the end of the arc Bakole's eyes are just all white. That punch knocked the stuffing out of him and it was only a matter of time before a decent follow-up shot was going to poleaxe him.
Re: Martin Bakole
In sparring it would have been Bakole knocking out Parker of course ...Bakole has never fought anyone of Parker's calibre, except in sparring, of course.

What I don't understand is that so many of those heavyweigths don't seem to have the discipline/lifestyle to stay in top shape through the year. They're supposed to be top-level athletes. I don't know any other sport where contenders just balloon up like that, maybe only professional darters.

Re: Martin Bakole
the fight with ajaba was still 3 months off - i doubt bakole was even in any serious training yet, hence the career high weight. and he wasnt even in saudi to weigh in with parker and was on a plane 4 hours flight away the day before, after flying 10+ hours not long before that
at the end of the fight he was all smiles and looking giddy to pose for photos
i think he got a nice fat payday and was just happy to be there, knowing full well that he was far from prepared

Paddy Pimblett does the same in MMA. In his fights, he looks absolutely shredded, and two weeks later, he's a fat fornicate who gains around 20 kg.RuudOEN84 wrote: ↑23 Feb 2025, 11:48 What I don't understand is that so many of those heavyweigths don't seem to have the discipline/lifestyle to stay in top shape through the year. A 15–20 kg difference seems to happen a lot, and most heavyweights over there are fat fucks in general.

Not the top tier guys though.Sendo Takeshi wrote: ↑23 Feb 2025, 13:14Paddy Pimblett does the same in MMA. I've not seen Joshua, Uysk, Parker, Dubois, Klitschko (even now) in bad shape.
The guys who do blob out don't tend to get extra holes punched in world championship belts, with a fluke Ruiz being a temporary exception.

Re: Martin Bakole
Even they could do with getting in shape - big money in darts these days and you're better at anything if you're fit.RuudOEN84 wrote: ↑23 Feb 2025, 11:48 What I don't understand is that so many of those heavyweigths don't seem to have the discipline/lifestyle to stay in top shape through the year. Peter Ebdon proved that getting proper athlete-fit could make you a World Champ in Snooker ffs - for fighters it's unforgiveable.
