Eubank suffered from it and he'll bear a grudge. Ultimately, though, that Eubank has to take this fight to get a big pay day is why he dislikes Benn so much - Benn has done nothing of note but is getting the lion's share of the purse for this pantomime.

If it was to be expected that Chris Eubank Jnr and Conor Benn, and indeed that their respective promoters Ben Shalom and Eddie Hearn, would insult each other, it came as a surprise when Benn claimed that his rival owes the soccer player Neymar £4m.
The increasingly bitter rivals came face to face on Tuesday evening in Manchester, England, to promote their date of April 26 at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. They first agreed to fight in 2022, until Benn twice tested positive for the banned substance clomifene.
Benn, 28, has since consistently maintained his innocence, but after his career stalled as a consequence, they came face to face again in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on the occasion of Eubank Jnr’s victory over Kamil Szeremeta, aware that their fight was likely to be next.
It has since been confirmed that they will fight at middleweight – Benn was established at welterweight when they agreed to fight at a catchweight of 157lbs in 2022 – but before their departures from the Kingdom Arena that night Eubank Jnr was joined in the ring by Neymar Jnr, the Brazil international considered one of the world’s leading soccer players until his move to play in the lightly regarded Saudi Pro League.
The 35-year-old Eubank Jnr and Neymar are also known to have played poker together, but Benn, speaking at the top table of their press conference, surprised those present when he said: “He is an idiot. He owes Neymar four million quid – that’s why he’s taken this fight. So don’t talk shit.
“I said he owes Neymar four million quid [$5,068,000] – have you not heard? So don’t come talk to me about bollocks. This is why you have taken this fight. And you are about to get rendered unconscious for it. You’re money hungry – that’s the only reason.”
Eubank Jnr had revealed that his willingness to agree to a rehydration clause that meant that they can weigh no more than 170lbs on the morning of their fight had been financially motivated. By the time Chris Eubank Jnr and Conor Benn had to be pulled apart after their press conference fracas, the fighters had already discussed the issue of the weight the bout between the welterweight Benn, and Eubank Jnr – who has campaigned at super middleweight – will be fought at.
Eubank first brought up the topic. BS reported in January that the fight was made at 160lbs, and the fighters have to weigh no more than 170lbs on the morning of the bout on April 26 at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
“It wasn’t something we expected,” said Eubank Jnr’s promoter, Ben Shalom, of the stipulation. “The weight limits, the rehydration, it caused a lot of controversy and it wasn’t right. This was something that was added in last minute; it’s something we will deal with.
“Chris is a professional and he will make it the way he should, but it’s not something you typically see in boxing. Not at this level. Not on the day, and it’s just another thing that puts a bit of a downer on the event when it’s an unbelievable event for British boxing and it wasn’t agreed until 24 hours before a contract was signed.”
The 28-year-old Benn’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, then fired a missive at Shalom, telling Eubank Jnr: “You better get some better people working for you, son… it was agreed in the contract.”
Eubank Jnr replied: “What was agreed was the fight would happen, and that Conor Benn can beat Chris Eubank at any weight. That’s what was agreed. Then, all of a sudden, we get demands from Conor and his team… you guys sprung it on us…”
Benn, who had considerably less to say than his adversary during Tuesday’s press conference in Manchester, interrupted saying: “Stop covering your arse for when you get knocked out.”
But Eubank Jnr continued: “I like a challenge, okay. When Eddie and Conor started demanding there was a rehydration clause for this fight, guess what I said? Show me the money. Show me the money. That’s what I said…. You’ve got to pay top dollar. I’m being paid to restrict my weight.”
By this point, those on stage were swapping rapid-fire exchanges.
“No, you’re on a weight penalty if you miss it,” Hearn said.
“Chris was paid to do this,” said Shalom.
“Are you gonna make the weight?” asked Hearn.
Then Eubank Jnr, 35, added: “Now this rehydration situation – I’ve never done it before. Usually, I put on around 14lbs after a weigh-in. So I have two ways of approaching this. I can either restrict what I eat and drink so I make weight the next day, or I eat and drink as much as I want, rehydrate as much as I usually do, and then I will jump in a sauna or steam-room on fight day, get the four pounds off I’m supposed to get and I’ll hit that number they want me to hit. “I don’t know which one I’m gonna do, it’s a gut thing. On the day, I will decide.”
Later, Eubank Jnr said: “It’s actually irrelevant, whether there’s weight clauses or restrictions. It doesn’t change the outcome of the fight.”
The IBF used to enforce a 10lbs weight restriction and it is believed that that was the guide upon which negotiations took place. The IBF have since switched that amount to 12lbs.
“Will it make a difference? I’m not going to lose the fight if that’s what you mean,” said Eubank Jnr. “Will I be affected? Of course I will. I’m being restricted from how much I can eat and drink, so there will be a slight disadvantage, but I’m being paid so I will accept that challenge. It’s very simple.”
Boxxer’s Shalom then challenged Team Benn, asking: “If you’re that confident, why’s there’s a rematch clause in this contract?”
“You asked for a two-fight deal,” Hearn replied.

All praise to Eddie “hitman” Hearn, for facing down a PR disaster 2 years ago and turning it into a deal with the devil financial bonanza ( so far.. )
The sky PR team, previously wringing their hands at the thought of putting their holy brand on such a toxic event, have dropped all pretense at piousness and grabbed hold of it for the money.
If it wasn’t junior, whoever came up with the cracking egg idea deserves half the pay-per-view.

CHRIS EUBANK JR FACING PUNISHMENT AFTER CONOR BENN EGG SLAP, BBBOFC CONFIRMS
Following last night's press conference between Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn, in which the former slapped the latter on the face with an egg, the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) has confirmed punishments could follow.
Eubank Jr (34-3, 25 KOs) and Benn (23-0, 14 KOs) are due to clash at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London on April 26, and the build-up has been typically fiery.
At their first press conference on Tuesday evening in Manchester, the pair had to be separated by security after Eubank Jr smashed an egg into the side of Benn's face following a face-off on stage.
General secretary of the Boxing Board says Eubank Jr could be punished ahead of his fight with Benn in two months.
Smith told The Ring: "We're obviously disappointed he did such a silly thing. He struck Conor which was inappropriate, it was irresponsible. We'll deal with that at a hearing when we call for a hearing. We'll get one in as soon as we can possibly get it on.
"I can't speculate [on punishment]. There's lots of things they can do, they can withdraw licenses, they can fine, they can suspend, they can put conditions on licences.
Concerns have been put forward about the pair meeting once again at a second presser tomorrow in the capital at Spurs' stadium, but Smith is happy for it to move forward.
He added: "I've spoken to a few people regarding the press conference tomorrow, and I'm satisfied the press conference can go ahead."
Eubank Jr and Benn were supposed to meet today for a roundtable face-off, set to be broadcast by DAZN at a later date, but the meeting was called off after Tuesday's antics.

Following on from Eubank's question. I wonder how much, if anything, Hearn has advanced Benn over the years? I don't think Ed would out and out lie, so when he says Benn doesn't owe him anything, I believe him in that if Benn jacked it in tomorrow, he wouldn't need to pay anything to Ed, but I would be surprised if Eddie's percentage isn't over 50%.
