If the same names keep cropping up it looks a bit unadventurous (and that's not to diminish Usyk's achievements).
Yep. If Fury stays retired, Joshua ends up losing to lesser opponents such as Dubois then Dubois goes on to amount to not much then his reign looks terrible. By defeating Parker and Kabayel he sures up the possibility that he inflicts a defeat on more future world champions.

Bakole got paid. It was worth the 400k. He can live like a king in the Congo now. Billy Nelson was delighted that he made money also. I wonder what his cut is.

DDD has the other belt so why would Usyk waste time on Parker or Kabayel
I might be wrong, but I get the impression that Turki calls the shots now- that is if they want the oil money, and they consistently do.
Turki may have the $$$ but Usyk is the no 1 fighter in the world - he has said maybe 2 more fights to go which include DD .
Beyond that who knows ... but really whats the point of just going further down and down the ranks .

He really has nothing to prove .

I sense the DD fight is all about leaving no doubt on his legacy given all the low blow nonsense .
Actually Steve, Uysk said in the press conference straight after the second Fury fight when asked who is next, he deferred to Turki who was sitting beside him :maybe:

It was a hell of a punch Parker uncorked and it also caught Bakole high on the head and buggered up his equilibrium.

With a full training camp there's every chance Bakole could have performed differently.

As it is, Parker must be in pole position to challenge Usyk IMO, followed by Kabayel :bag:

usyk already trashed the belt dubois has and already stopped him. weve seen it already. does usyk really need a 3rd rematch at hw?? he's already been undisputed so that's no new accomplishment. he's already stopped dubois so it's not a new opponent in the win column.

if anyone is the waste of time fight it's dubois, not a fresh challenger who is deserving of a shot like parker or kabayel
100% Mags.
Personally Kabayal interests me the most.
Dubois got done worse than Joshua or Fury, he must be deluded if he thinks he has a chance.

Even something as simple as seeing Usyk react to the shot a fraction of a second sooner and then having to point out to AJ that Billy pulled Bakole shows how he's that bit more switched on to his surroundings than the people he is competing against.

Man, I would kill for reflexes like that. Unfortunately I'd be more likely to get killed because of my terrible reflexes

It's also moments like this where it shows how much Usyk loves boxing. Whenever division rivals are watching fights you can always see their reactions is based on analysing an opponent. Usyk just seems to like watching the fights regardless.

400k purse (US dollars) - is it just me that thinks this is lower than you would have thought?
He's got trainers and promoters fees and tax to pay too. Yeah it will be still be a good chunk for the standard of living in the Congo but hopefully for him the deal included another slot on a Riyadh season show because after that display he's undone all the work to get himself on the fringes of a title shot.

It certainly does seem low. I wouldn't be surprised if Billy Nelson helped himself to a nice serving.

I think that the Efe Ajagba fight could be a banana skin fight stylewise so it might have been a good move financially to cash in with the Parker fight, knowing he still retains the Efe fight. There was huge upside if he beat Parker.

I think he is going to have a problem with Efe myself. Efe has gotten better at fighting at range and I'm not sure Bakole will be able to take a good wallop from him with the right hand. Personally, I'm picking Ajagba to beat him. There is a mandatory challenge for the winner so it's worth the risk.
