Greg Haugen dies at 64

Post by RScarf1 »

Greg Haugen died of renal cancer. Maybe he will be inducted into the Hall of Fame since Vinny Pazienza got in and Haugen beat him once, but he lost twice to Vinny. Seriously though, I used to watch him and he always gave a great effort. Rest in Peace

Oh that’s very sad news. Greg was one tough hombre, could’ve mixed it with anyone. Very smart fighter and a great line in trash talk.

I looked him up a few years ago to see how he’s getting on ..running a gym if I remember, think
he’d had his troubles in retirement but was good to see he’d survived all that ..

I mean the balls to tell JC Chavez that he’d beaten nothing but Tijuana cabdrivers, just before going to Mexico and taking him on in front of I think what might have been one of the biggest and hostile fight crowds ever. He was outgunned there, but went out on his shield of course.

RIP CHAMP

A very underrated boxer, is the first thought that I have, whenever I hear the name of "Greg Haugen".

It is Sad that he passed away. Many Former Boxers unfortunately develop serious health issues, after they retire, and they then leave this world in an untimely time-frame.

Respected boxer.
Prime, you wouldn't take Haugen lightly.
Chin boxing ability will to win and durability could be singled out as strong points.

Sorry to hear this. Cancer is Evil IMHO. I have had several family members die from cancer & I'm sad to hear this. Rest in heaven.

RIP Champ. He fought a really tough lineup from Pernell Whitaker, JC Chavez, Camacho, Mancini, Pazienza, Jimmy Paul, Tony Lopez, Gert Bo Jacobsen, Chris Calvin, Freddie Roach, and Chris Calvin to name just the ones off the top of my head. Gave Camacho his first loss and fought him a very close second fight. Interesting style. Much better boxer and counter puncher than many realize. Thought he beat Pazienza really 2 of 3 but hometown judges robbed him. Tough man.
