I saw it quoted online that Padley earnt enough to retire but couldn’t find the interview, I did see one interview he done and he said he’s made enough to “look after his future” and become a full time fighter so not sure how much that is. He did also say the story about being bought a house was rubbish.

Might be unpopular for this, but I feel he's getting overhyped a little now. Or too much buzz around him.

Has much has i'm glad for him , Lets not get too carried away , he shown tremendous heart , but not trememdous skill , his actual technique was way way behind , This will be an unpopular statement but dispite showing heart , and putting it on Stevenson , i did get the impresion Stevenson was carrying him a bit , at no time was he in trouble , and whenever he wanted he landed , quick clean and sharp , the technique and punch delivery were miles apart

I don't think anyone is suggesting he's a future P4P king, but this might be the boost in profile he needs to have a solid career at British and maybe European level. Let him train full time and his level will improve too.

We don't know but I wouldn't have paid him north of 500k. People have this idea that the Saudis have fortunes but are thick and spend it like water. That's simply not true. They will pay above market value to buy the market but only just enough.

£575k is a huge pay day for almost any fighter and maybe 10x or 15x more than anything that Bakole has been paid before.

Not as much as others in the building trade think, that's for sure! Depends on if he's cards in, subbing or getting his own work. know some cards in lads on 30k, which blows my mind. I was on between 220-300 a day subbing when I jacked it to emigrate 4 years ago but again I've known others sub for 150, which is nuts

Obviously great money, but also to highlight that this was a saving the show purse in Saudi for a world title.

People assuse that boxers get paid millions for title fights.

Remember it's in dollars, and between his managers/ trainers cut and taxes, he will do well to see half that.

If he buys a flash car and goes full time pro for the next 5 years, he probably won't have much left at the end of it.

However, buying 3 economical flats would be a great idea which will give him a pension for life.

What was his purses before this? Not even a few grand. Was probably paid a small fraction of this against Mark.

The amount he is left with after he’s paid everyone is still way above average salary for the year

large respect for Josh Padley but the hype has gone overboard.

He did well but he is only British level really, he is a non puncher and was in with a non puncher, he wont get chance to fight for a world title again but he has earned good coin for this challenge.

I'm all for Padley getting as much praise as possible, principally because he tried his best in the face of overwhelming odds

There has been a host of world title challenges who didn't try anywhere near their best and some content just to last the course or not get halted. A number of these would have been given proper notice too.
