Carson Jones suffers complications of surgery (UPDATE: RIP)

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

Boxer Carson Jones suffers complications during GI tract surgery

Former welterweight contender Carson Jones is not doing well after he suffered complications during esophagus surgery.

Ex-world champion Caleb Truax relayed that Jones needs prayers from the boxing community following his procedure on Monday. Jones, who fought 63 times in the ring, winning 44, last fought in October 2023, defeating James Warren via second-round stoppage.

Boxer Carson Jones surgery
The 38-year-old stated he was not looking forward to the surgery after informing his followers in January of his GI [Gastrointestinal] tract problems. Jones had problems swallowing food and finally uncovered the problem.

“Finally figured out what’s wrong. This tube was all the way down my esophagus. I have achalasia. So, just get ready to see how much they have to cut from my esophagus,” said Jones.

“I’m not tripping about this. I need it for a prayer for this morning so I didn’t go to jail. I already knew I got to have surgery for this,” he joked.

Updating as he prepared for the operation, Jones said, “I finally have surgery on my esophagus on Monday. I cannot wait. This s*** is driving me insane. I’ve had a max of three bites of food per day for the last few weeks, with a loss of 35 pounds. Some days, there is no food or drink at all.”

On the day of the surgery, Jones said, “Welp, it’s time. Not looking forward to this.”

Complications
Truax then updated Jones’ condition. He said, “Boxing community, we need some prayers for former world title challenger Carson Jones. He had complications during a surgical procedure, and my friend can use all the good vibes he can get.”

World Boxing News wishes Jones well after featuring the fighter many times on the website during his days facing Kell Brook. The last time he spoke to WBN in career updates [2018 to 2020], he said he was ready to move to middleweight in 2018.

“I’m moving up in weight to another class of 160, which will be against a Canadian named Steven Butler on June 23rd,” Jones told WBN. “My plan is to use this opportunity in front of me to see where I’m at. I need to see which direction I go at this stage of my career and try to get back on track.

“I didn’t have such a good outing last fight and need to redeem myself. In fact, I looked terrible that night [against Ted Cheeseman]. Nothing was going my way from camp to fight night.

“Typically, behind-the-scenes hiccups didn’t help, but it seems there was an abundance of them this time around. Cheeseman should not have beaten me, and I know that.”

In 2019, he moved back down to super welterweight.

“When I return, that’s what I’ll be fighting at [154 pounds]. I think I may attempt to get to 147. If I can, good, but if not, that’s fine too. I’m just hoping to get back in the ratings and position myself for a bigger fight in 2019,” he said.

The following year, Jones added, “I’m looking forward to hopping back in the ring at least by the end of the year. I really don’t think I’ll be ready to fight for another two to three months, though.

“I want to ensure I give myself enough time to drop the weight properly without hurting myself. It has been such a long layoff.”

Jones suffered two more losses since the Cheeseman fight before winning three out of his last four. The one defeat came against rising star Callum Walsh.

Our thoughts are with Carson at this time.

Hope he pulls through.

One tough mofo. Definitely had Kelly Brook rattled in the face off straight before their first fight.

‘Say bye bye to that 0’

Then gave Brook the fight that woke him up and showed that he needed to live the life.

A proper Journeyman was Jones, not like these blagggers we see in this country who purposely dont try to win because they want to make a living

Yeah if memory serves it was a hard night's work for Kell, the first time he'd really needed to go into the trenches

A true servant of the sport. Always seemed like a cool, hardworking man and took pride in a role most fighters would feel shame in. Sleep tight CJ
