Freddy Brown

Charlie Goldman

Cus D'Amato

I know this is a bit out of league but I think for modern day Robert McCracken should be mentioned. He is a superb trainer and cornerman.

Philadelphia's JIMMY WILSON , trained Midget Wolgast, Gus Dorazio, Sonny Liston, Ike Williams, Johnny Saxton, Lew Jenkins, Dan Bucceroni, Clarence Henry, Coley Wallace, Eddie Giosa, Billy Fox, and many others.
WHITEY ESNAULT from New Orleans taught and trained Bernard Docusen, Maxie Docusen, Ralph Dupas, Willie Pastrano, Freddie Little, Vince Bonomo, Ralph Chong, Tony Licata, etc.
Geez, there were great trainers all over the world like JACKIE MCCOY in Los Angeles, BILL GORE, JACK BRADY and JIMMY COSTER from Philly, IZZY KLINE from Chicago, L.A.'s GEORGE BLAKE (all who trained multible champions), and a hundred other guys that should be remembered on these threads but aren't.

They are American trainers. That does not mean they were the best
Some great trainers were not Americans
Amilcar Brusa and Tito Lectoure were from Argentina
Luis Spada was from Argentina but lived in Panama
Mexican trainers like Nacho Beristain, Cristobal Rosas and Cuyo Hernandez were great.
In Japan we have one by his last name Suzuki
In Panama there was Curro Dossman
In England there was Mickey Duff

Elmersalsa, if you read the post it said, "Geez, there were great trainers all over the world." Sorry I didn't name all of them but thanks for adding more deserving names. Those I named and those you named should be remembered as great along with others not named. It is just tiresome hearing the same names over and over as being the best. OK ?

Pete Latzo
Gus Lesnevich

Jimmy McLarnin
Mike McTigue

Not sure how long he trained these guys and when, but that looks pretty impressive.

Gil Clancy should be here too
I think Clancy did a great job guiding Emile Griffith to a great career as he had him from his earliest amateur days. I take away points because of the job he did as Jerry Quarry’s trainer in the Norton fight. Gil should never have let Quarry take all that punishment. He was shelled in that fight. Pull him out of there. Unnecessary beating.

Never was sure how great of a trainer he was. He doesn't seem to have that many guys who had really good careers.

I believe the only fighters listed above that Dollings may not have guided to the Championship are Mike McTigue, and Gene Tunney. McTigue was usually trained by Bill Gore, and Gene Tunney was guided to the title by Whitey Bimstein.
