It’s the way he quickly ran to his corner too and they wiped his face.
Nice save.
Ref shouldn’t be asking him what he’s doing.
He’s took a damn knee.
Start the count.

Re: Gervonta Davis vs. Lamont Roach Jr. | PBC PPV - March 1, 2025
davis is a prick who is wasting his talent - not active enough in the ring yet always mouthing off like he is the 2nd coming of ali
Re: Gervonta Davis vs. Lamont Roach Jr. | PBC PPV - March 1, 2025
Question: Can a jury member score a knockdown (10-8 round) if the referee doesn't give a count?
Tank is one of my favorite fighters, people take it for granted that he KO's everybody he faces in the ring.
But today I missed a certain agression and absolute will to win.
Kind of reminds me of Deontay WIlder's recent performances.

I’ve some cases where there was a KD given and the judges didn’t give it..RuudOEN84 wrote: ↑02 Mar 2025, 12:10 Question: Can a jury member score a knockdown (10-8 round) if the referee doesn't give a count?

Not too common in high profile fights

If I'm a judge and I had a clear enough view to see him take a knee and then run to his corner to get ministered to without the ref having called a break in the action, and then get away without taking a count for no apparent reason, 100% I'm just taking a point away on my own.

In my years of Boxing watching experience. That there is what we call a knockdown. Not a conversation about "I'll have to consider that a knockdown if you do that sort of thing".Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑02 Mar 2025, 06:43

Roach definitely deserved a 10-8 round there.

Turning your back to your opponent and not defending yourself could always get the fight called off as well. If you need your face wiped off, you do that sh*t in your corner before the bell rings.squiggy wrote: ↑02 Mar 2025, 13:55 If I'm a judge and I had a clear enough view to see him take a knee and then run to his corner to get ministered to without the ref having called a break in the action, and then get away without taking a count for no apparent reason, 100% I'm just taking a point away on my own.

Money talks.
If Roach takes a knee he loses the round 10-8. If Superstar Tank takes a knee the promoters the sanctioning bodies the commission have to find a way to keep the money train rolling so the pliable ref has his instructions. Twas ever thus.
I thought Tank edged it overall so no major injustice I don’t think.
Are we seeing Tank on the slide though ? Would be so sad for the fans if his skills were starting to diminish before he’s faced any of the really elite guys he could choose to fight

Yes a judge can score a round 10-8 without a called KD.RuudOEN84 wrote: ↑02 Mar 2025, 12:10 Question: Can a jury member score a knockdown (10-8 round) if the referee doesn't give a count?

116-112 Roach for me, it looked like he comprehensively outboxed Davis for the most part although tbh the first 6 rounds were poor and too tentative, maybe a draw isn't that bad? Davis would land an occasional left hand, he made Roach miss most but he'd catch the odd stray and in a close round with little to no punches landed , he lost round, things improved the second half though, Roach came right into things, his confidence grew and he started catching Davis more often with big shots, usually singles but Davis too lackadaisical, the 9th round was bizarre, replay didn't show Tank shipping a right hand, Davis takes a knee, ref goes to count and shites the bed, blatant blunder by the ref, he even told Tank he should've took a point off, I don't buy the eye story, he felt a right I reck, he actually had his best round after it happened, not a great fight but some good action , if that ref done his job Roach wins regardless of mine or most people's scores
Re: Gervonta Davis vs. Lamont Roach Jr. | PBC PPV - March 1, 2025
I think it is a tougher call than people are making out. It is not automatic that a fighter going down is counted - I remember Andre Dirrell frequently took knees when pressured against Abraham and I think also Froch and these were ruled "slips" when they clearly were not that.
So I don't think it is automatic (as per some of the twitter comments) that if a fighter goes down, when there is clearly no punch it is AUTOMATICALLY called a KD - as per my opening paragraph. However, Tank turned his back also which can also mean a point deduction.
It is tricky as Tank wasn't seemingly in any major distress, in terms of being hurt be Roach or gassing or looking for a way out. He seemed like he had a problem with his vision and to be honest I do not know how is the best way to signal the refs attention if the ref hasn't seen he is in distress.
To be honest, I don't think I would have called it a knockdown, but I would have docked a point for turning his back / not engaging - which might have seen a bit harsh on Tank (but ultimately fair) given the context.

Same shit then really. He cant just walk away towards his corner.
I wouldn't have blamed Roach if he went for him. Protect yourself at all times.
But he took that knee on purpose so the action would pose.
I mean he could have just signalled to the ref about his eyes. he may have called a time out
Re: Gervonta Davis vs. Lamont Roach Jr. | PBC PPV - March 1, 2025
Yes - ultimately if my card would have been one of the draw cards then a point deduction would have meant Tank lost - but I think calling it a KD is a bit harsh and to say all fighters who go down get counted, whether a punch is thrown or not - is flat out wrong.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑03 Mar 2025, 05:02Same shit then really. Point deduction for turning his back - is fair, even if a tad harsh on Tank given the context. Its not the scandal of the century though by the ref to let it go unpunished - but yes, I would have docked 1 point but NOT called it a KD.
Re: Gervonta Davis vs. Lamont Roach Jr. | PBC PPV - March 1, 2025
Certainly not when he had his back to him - fully fine to go for him then, but NOT when he took the knee - it is not "no punching when a fighter is on the floor via a punch only". Our sport will start to resemble MMA if fighters are allowed to punch on the floor when its been deemed a slip.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑03 Mar 2025, 05:02Same shit then really. It wasn't a slip though.
He voluntarily took a knee. So he could fix a hair issue.
TBH, the whole thing was bizarre.
It's easy looking back and saying this or that should have happened. but in that moment, live, even the ref was probably confused and had to make a quick decision.
anyway, the WBA are considering ordering a rematch
