Will Dana White finish off Hearn and Warren?

Post by Controversial »

I’ve not read the ins and outs of the Dana White deal but seeing a few posts on Twitter saying this will finish off Hearn etc. What do you think?

TKO, Dana, and Turki with a plan and billions of Saudi money and investment funds....

Of course they will finish them off, if they want to.

I've been all in on Turki's involvement in boxing, making the best fights, getting all the promoters working together, getting nearly everything on one network etc, what's not to like?

This is strange though I'm all for one belt, especially one as prestigious as the Ring and fckn off the ABC's is a huge bonus but getting Dana White involved is strange, Turki's got Warren, Hearn, De La Hoya, Shalom etc all working together, looks like he's giving them all the elbow, in sure Eddie and co will all play it down but it looks clear to see and thats just gonna cause more division, I can see it being Turki and Dana against the rest tbh

Who are the rest though?

Bob Arum is nearly 100.

FW is 73, wealthy and been almost solely dependent on Turki's investment for the last couple of years.

Eddie is young. rich and just looks at the numbers. He won't fight to hold into something that doesn't stack up financially for Matchroom.

Oscar, Hopkins are nowt.

Al Haymon has likely burnt his bridges with investors.

The sanctioning bodies are always vulnerable lobbyists and for the most part ponces.

It's easy pickings IMO, smallish family firms being eaten by sharks.

FIghters will go where the money is. They will easily be poached from promotors if the money is better with Saudis which it clearly is. If this is what it takes to go back to the days of Rocky Marciano in the 1950s. Marciano was the last lineal heavyweight champ when there was only one belt.

I agree, Hearn was saying in an interview yesterday that he's 46 this year and has had thoughts of retiring, whether that was click bait or not who knows

I sincerely hope not. If Eubank Jr thinks Warren and Hearn are scumbags, he should hold Dana's beer.

Maybe that's what Turki man wants, more of the money flowing back into his pockets than having to pay the boxers top whack. The system works for the boxers at the moment.

They have said that 150-160 boxers would be signed up across a selection of weight divisions.
First promotion will be in 2026.

So if first promotion has say 20 boxers on it , that would still mean they will have to have another 7-8 promotions in the first for every boxer to have fought in a league type thing.

That's just the first fight for each boxer , the league will be either 1-0 or 0-1
The league would then have to start on second bouts , you'd be into 2027 for that going by the number of boxers they want.

Or they have multiple promotions on same day in different places.

Remember the Super 6 that Carl Froch was in, that took 2 years with just 6 boxers.

So no this won't kill the other promoters

Yep.
Yet thousands of good, young MMA fighters are desperate to get signed to UFC. Supply and demand has to be factored in. If you have a style, mindset and personality that appeals to the fans you get paid plenty, potentially millions. Many thousands of times more than you would as a unemployed youth in a Sao Paolo favela or Dagestani village.

Dana has shown very little interest in hosting UFC events anywhere but the US unless there's a big name to prop up the event. There's absolutely no way he's building British boxers from 0-0 to title challenging level. He also pays peanuts

Well if all off this is true , alls its shown is that King Tut Tut , has played the british promoters very well , thrown the coin around enticed them in , whilst all along knowing he's gonna throw them to the wolves ,, Now will they relize this get the hump and say thats it were not helping him cut our lunch any more , will they heck as like ,

No they will continue to help him , get the fights and make him bigger ,has long has there well paid , he can do what he wants with with Dana , BECAUSE at the end of the day boxing is bigger than MMA, UFC , or whatever Dana calls the stuff he runs , there are hundreds of thousands of young ameteurs across the world and the best of them all want to turn pro , win world titles and become rich and famous .

King Tut Tut and Dana will never ever be able to sign them all , jeezus how many good fighters are out there now, who cannot get a foot in the door , never mind it its just these two running it , whats gonna happen when someone does'nt want to call tut tut your highness , or Dana prince baldy head , they will be right out of favor then

I doubt he will ever get rid of Frank or Eddie especielly if they wanted to carry on , they will just go back to English shows , earn a little less , but still do very well ,

Frank will die doing what he loves ,and want to pass a legacy on to his familly ,

Eddie will just retire , get a stall down a eastend market and enjoy life , driving too the market to sell 10 dollar rolexes he sent someone to buy from the wholesaler for 2 quid each , People will lick his arse , and he'll tell anyone who will listen what a proper geezer he is

And in any case , if he does somehow blow them out , THEY DESERVE IT , its what they get for running around calling a fella who really is nothing but a front man and sports politiscan , YOUR HIGHNESS , creeping pair of sods the two of them, or proper geezers , who cares , if the king wants to throw his money around grab what you can while you can , and that goes for everyone , trainers , managers , boxers , and promoters , not to mention fan boys like Froch , and the creepy fooker with long hair and glasses that does the kungfu kicks

Dana White does exactly the same thing any boxing promoter would do if they had that kind of monopoly.

Maybe Turki wants that kind of monopoly on every promoter?

There’s a disconnect between what Dana pays his fighters and what Turki pays his. I just wonder what we end up with?

Think you end up with Dana encouraging King TutTut , to pay Dana more, and the fighters less , only the fighters who shout Hail King Tut TUT , Hail Prince Baldy Head , get the opportunity to fight for the ring belt ,

The rest of the boxing world are still happy to go on a Frank or Eddie show, fight for less , and win another alphabet belt , after all what makes this ring magazine belt so speciel, because a Saudi politiscen bought the magazine , or because Fury said he was the ring champ after he got beat .

Make no bones about it King Tut Tut is ONLY making a big splash becuase he's throwing MONEY ABOUT , soon has that stops , so does getting called your royal highness , and with Dana's model it will mean less for the fighters and more for Dana .

I for one do not think its going to be a great success Once they build the stars up to SAY Canelo level , with Canelo level dollars in the bank , then these stars will be like Canelo , want quarter of a billion dollars to fight 4 easy fights not many will care too much about watching ,, Saudi pockets may be deep , but how long will the real Your highnesses , allow him to keep digging into them

Can't see it working myself, people will get fed up with the big fights going on in Saudi and want stuff to watch live . UFC have one show , their own belts and if you're not with them then you get nothing.
Boxers will still want to box and it might work out for the best in the long run as the Saudis have their own stuff and the rest of the world ignore them

I don't think the plan is to have most of the events in Saudi. Some, yes, but the idea is to get the USA market back into boxing. The sport has been dead there for 20 years because of the politics, multiple champions, etc.

Honestly, for the good of the sport let's hope they clear out all the promoters and sanctioning bodies.

The boxers will have to negotiate their deals, whatever. None of my business. We just can't go on with it taking a quarter of a century to have an undisputed heavyweight champ and then one body strips him immediately for not defending against a guy he already KOd with a jab.

So what if the Saudi money stops for all other boxing matches outside of this competition?
Suddenly this competition has all the backing, and some (Gareth Davies) are saying billion(s) in dirty oil money.
It is a definite concern that in the last few months Ring Magazine has now become the mouthpiece of Saudi backed boxing and will be the corner stone of this competition and is no longer an independent publication.
I'm betting there will be controls put on participants who want to be selected to enter outside of anything to do with boxing.
What the other promotors do in this situation is up for conjecture, but from recent events, they will tow the line.

I think it would be prudent to involve Matchroom and Queensbury.

They know how to spot talent, develop that talent, match fighters at the right time, and promote them into huge names. They are world class at what they do and it would be madness not to use that expertiese and experience.

I have really enjoyed these past 18 months or so. It seemed to be working really well.

It may force a situation like UFC, PFL etc where Dana's organisation is seen as the "true" one, the prestigious organisation that everyone recognises cos it has all the premier fighters,,,,,and Eddie and Frank will be picking up the scraps with little interest from the fans who aren't diehards.

Same, these events have been amazing for the matchups (maybe not the atmosphere) and boxing needed it.
I see promotors being involved at the beginning, but Turki seems to eventually want full control. I make that statement because of how he now announces all the Saudi backed fights through his own Ring Magazine and also controls the cards - for example no women's fights- making the involvement of promotors even more marginalized to the point that in the near future he may do deals directly with fighters or just set up his own promotion company and jack Eddie and Frank out.
