Easy fix. He simply says fight out your contracts then come to me. Nothing they can do about it then. Doubt the match clause will ever get exercised!

3 years is a long time in boxing

Then the usual promoters will pick up the amateur talent, tie their fighters down to longer contracts while building them, and then the Ring belt will just be another belt as it is now

I disagree, the usual promotors - if they are on the out from this competition - won't be able to offer the highest level if the belts become superceded and the competition is closed to outside promotors. You have to imagine the end goal is monopoly, otherwise why bother?

If it is the UFC model, there aren't that many fighters, the Saudis won't be able to sweep up all the boxing talent, and pay them all silly money and keep them all busy enough

They won't be offering any money or contracts when the fighters are novices, you need to know what you are doing to build fighters, when they are ready they will tie them down to contracts.
Bit like in football after the Bosman ruling, longer contracts

Here's the WBC top 15 middleweights, would you want to see a league involving them?
Really the league is another alphabet belt , it's worse as the boxers can only be signed to it , so if you don't sign for the league you don't fight for the belt. At least the other alphabet belts rankings are all different promoted boxers.

So take the WBC current 15 , who out of that would you want to see in a round robin system? It hardly inspires excitement, remember they wouldn't be allowed to box for national or international titles.

The promoters aren't going anywhere. Boxers and their representation want to choose who they fight and eek out every advantage they can for the home fighter.

It will be longer term than that, I suspect this will look like what Haymon tried to do with PBC but with more money backing it. Turki should just buy the 4 alphabets and dissolve the other 3 into the WBC. Pretty soon the contracts fighters have with Hearn & Warren will expire and they'll all want to be in this promotion, especially if they own the only recognised world title.

Has it's pros & cons.

Promoters will always try to big their boxers.

Hype a fight.

If that means you attach a ‘world title’ to the fight it can help sell.

Like when Hatton held the WBF title or whatever it was for ages.

I was young then and believed it was a world title.

WBO title was barely established when Calzaghe won it and all the rest of them Brits in the 90’s, but Warren certainly helps.

Eubank Jr claims he is a 2-time world champion cus he held the IBO title, yet other orgs don’t recognise it.

It’s all opinions.

He already has the Ring belt. The way to make the four orgs irrelevant is to suck the money out of their scam and just have the one belt. He has already talked about this. He spent a lot of money setting up unifying fights but has realized it's easier to have one belt so he bought it.
If all the best fighters are in the biggest paying competition, the money left for the existing four belts dries up and hopefully they just fold in a cesspit of corruption like they deserve.

is this all so White can offer his top UFC names a "show fight" while retaining control of their careers? setting up Alex Pereira v Usyk and then putting Pereira back in UFC title fights?

one thing is, it's odd that White would venture into boxing when the UFC heavyweight division has become almost a joke, the inability to make Jon Jones vs Ngannu (now in a different organisation) and Tom Aspinall. Would've thought he'd have needed to provide a serious fix for this problem. and I thought the Saudi wanted to "send him to the moon" for not agreeing cross organisational MMA fights between UFC and PFL.

Daniel Kinahan paid his fighters with the same money he got filling Dublin with filth and blood (The only rivers of blood I've seen are from drug feuds )The

Saudis are a Theocratic Monarchy who pay with easy to access Oil Ocean they have underneath them but a largely unsustainable pay out

Literally the worst people in the world are fighting for a part of boxing, I spent years laughing at people who quoted Dana White saying boxing is dead, knowing it would outlive them all, but you know what, maybe the sport SHOULD die if this is the lengths we have to go to

Who thinks a Wahabist regime is purchasing the football clubs and the boxing for the integrity of the sport?? Although Osama Bin Laden the Saudi billionaire was a handy centre forward who supported Arsenal (true story)

Hatton held the WBU, which was slightly less of a joke than the WBF but not much less, but then how do you get degrees of world championships, does being the champion of the world in a sport depend on opinions of who the best is?? But they'll have mouths to feed.. Conflicting interests

BTW, glad that Usyk v Pereira is dead in the water.

Usyk's "show fight" opponent was obviously beaten last night, by a Russian wrestler.

Dana and Turki may well end up with someone wearing their belt, but the WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO are going nowhere. I think it will end up like LIV golf.

There will always be a promoter who will pay the 4 major orgs a sanction fee in order to get their guy a world title.

I agree with you that Ankalaev clearly won. Some have questioned the judging but I guess that just goes to show that MMA has 'casuals' too. Ankalaev's spoiling was effective if not pretty/exciting.

Yeah, but UFC was the original thing. In this scenario, they are the Kerry Packer's World Series Cricket, where the WBC and WBA have been around since god was a lad.

The Saudis can never say they have the linear title, it's like them setting up their own world cup for football which will mean nothing to any true fans

Listening to Dana talking last night, it's crystal clear that Turki isn't happy with how things have gone so far and has brought White in to sort things out, achieve his objectives and to be the biggest global player in boxing.
